United States men’s national team (USMNT) legend Tim Howard spent most of his career in the Premier League, representing Manchester United and Everton. And, he has insisted that Tottenham Hotspur should have given Thomas Frank more time before firing him.
USMNT Great Tim Howard Blasts Tottenham Hotspur for Latest Decision
Tottenham Hotspur parted ways with former head coach Frank earlier in February after the north London outfit went winless in eight Premier League matches. They let go of the Dane when the club was in 16th place with just 29 points in the 2025-26 league table.
Now, Howard has hit out at Spurs for being hasty in their decision-making and sacking the former Brentford boss without understanding the dire injury situation of the club.
“I think it’s crazy. I genuinely think it’s ludicrous. I think it’s a horrific way to run a football club. Tottenham is a big club. Thomas Frank is a good manager,” Howard stated in a recent episode of the “Unfiltered Soccer” podcast, which also has USMNT icon Landon Donovan.
“Okay… results aren’t great. He’s had arguably his best players out this season. Should the squad that he has been getting better results? Yes. My issue is, give him more time… stand by your manager, results haven’t been good enough, but they spent a ton of money on this squad and half of them haven’t been fit,” the former USMNT goalkeeper concluded.
Frank, who has recently been replaced by Croatian coach Igor Tudor, joined Tottenham last summer after helping Brentford finish 10th in the 2024-25 Premier League table. However, the 52-year-old won just 13 and lost 15 of his 38 total games in charge of the Spurs.

Now, the north London outfit are in 16th place following a humiliating 4-1 home league loss against arch-rivals Arsenal last Sunday, Feb. 22. They will next lock horns with London club Fulham, who are 11th in the table, at Craven Cottage this Sunday, Mar. 1.
But, England great Alan Shearer has backed Fulham to hand Spurs their 13th league defeat of the season. He wrote in his column for Metro, “London derbies, normally I would go for a draw, but nothing gives me confidence about Spurs at this moment in time. I didn’t see any improvement last weekend, so they will have needed a big week on the training pitch.”
Should Tottenham lose their away game at Fulham and Nottingham Forest beat Manchester City this Sunday, Spurs would drop down to 17th place in the domestic table.
