United States women’s national team (USWNT) attacker Trinity Rodman has made National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) history this month. She signed a record-breaking contract with NWSL team Washington Spirit earlier on Thursday, Jan. 22.
But, how much is the daughter of basketball icon Dennis Rodman set to earn now?

Last week, Rodman penned a three-year deal, boasting an annual salary of over $2 million, with Washington Spirit in a special event at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles. The American ace has now become the highest-paid women’s soccer player in the world.
Selected second overall in the 2021 NWSL draft, Rodman’s previous four-year, $1.1 million extension expired on Dec. 31 last year. She is now set to stay in Washington, D.C. through 2028 and will be hoping to win her second NWSL Championship in the future.
“It’s a monumental and game-changing moment right now. Everyone’s gonna have their different thoughts and opinions about it, but I’ve never really cared. That doesn’t change anything for me. I think I’ve always had a vision and kind of an idea of what I wanted my legacy to be and continue to be,” Rodman opined on her recent renewal.
“This is just going to open opportunities for American girls with dreams, and I am one, and was one of them. I’m just very grateful about that. And, it’s perfect timing with the World Cup happening in the U.S. too,” the Washington Spirit player concluded.
The 2021 U.S. Soccer Young Female Player of the Year has guided her team to three NWSL Finals so far, winning the championship in 2021. She has also helped the USWNT notch the gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics and win five other tournaments.

Washington Spirit owner Michele Kang has recently asserted that retaining Rodman is a big step forward for both her team and the NWSL due to the attacker’s quality.
“This is a monumental moment, not only for Washington Spirit, but for NWSL as well. But personally, my involvement with the Spirit literally started with Trinity. I still remember the Draft Day. I can’t think about Washington Spirit without her, and I hope she can’t think about her career without Washington Spirit,” Kang said.
Rodman, who was previously involved in a month-long contract standoff with her club, has cemented herself as one of the best USWNT stars over the past few years. The 23-year-old is arguably deemed as the face of the NWSL following Alex Morgan’s retirement.
