Wrexham is within touching distance of the Premier League, but there are 17 matches left in the season, with the playoffs to follow if they qualify. With the transfer window open, they have now been advised to sign two Liverpool legends who would instantly help them reach the top flight.
Wrexham Urged To Sign Liverpool Legends This Month
Wrexham, which is on a stunning triple-promotion run, is aiming to make it four in a row. The club is sixth in the table, occupying the final playoff spot, and will need all the help it can get to remain in the top six at the end of the season.
Speaking to OLBG (via GOAL), former Liverpool star Gary McAllister told Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac to sign two players with Premier League experience. He believes the addition of James Milner and Jordan Henderson would improve their chances of reaching the top flight.
The former player added that it would be hard to convince Premier League players to join a Championship side, but said the two in the middle of the pitch would help Wrexham:
“Who could they get? Who could they convince to go there? That’s the thing. It would be remarkable if they could make that jump again after what they’ve done the last two or three years. We’re looking at a James Milner or a Jordan Henderson, somebody who’s been at the very, very top and just goes in there and as an old head sat in the middle of the park. Those two would be a big plus for that club.”
James Milner has played 310 minutes in the Premier League this season, scoring once and assisting once. He has started twice for Brighton & Hove Albion and come off the bench in 11 matches. The 40-year-old continues to impress in limited minutes and has shown no signs of slowing down.
Jordan Henderson has a key role at Brentford, having joined in the summer after a short spell at Ajax. He has started 15 league games and come off the bench six times, adding a goal and three assists. The 35-year-old has little Championship experience, having played for Coventry City in 2009, just months after making his debut for Sunderland.
Should one of them join, it would be bad news for George Dobson or Ben Sheaf, who have been impressive in the middle of the park for Wrexham this season.
