Ryan Reynolds’ Wrexham Named Surprise Destination for Andy Robertson by Ex-Liverpool Defender

Wrexham eye Premier League promotion as Glen Johnson urges a bold move for Liverpool left-back Andy Robertson this summer.

Wrexham is in the final EFL Championship playoff spot for the Premier League promotion, and they are already planning for next season. One pundit believes the club will need experienced players in the squad and has suggested they sign Liverpool’s Andy Robertson.

Liverpool Star Told He Should Consider Wrexham Move

Robertson will become a free agent in the summer as his contract at Liverpool expires. He has not been offered a new deal, and the Scotsman looks set to leave Anfield.

Former Chelsea defender Glen Johnson spoke to BoyleSports this week about Robertson, backing him to remain in England beyond the season. He said that the left-back is not going to join a better club than Liverpool in his career, especially as he is close to retirement.

Johnson has suggested that the former Hull City defender join a promoted club next season and remain in the Premier League. He backed Wrexham as the ideal side for him, as he can help the players coming up, adding that the left-back’s experience would be key for them in their learning curve, and said:

“Naturally, if Andy Robertson were to leave to go to a promoted club, it’s technically a step back, but there aren’t many steps forward from Liverpool. However, in terms of a newly promoted side that has a plan, you could understand why they’d want him for sure.”

Johnson added, “Thinking about his experience, trophies, age, helping the youngsters around him, and giving the dressing room a boost, having a Champions League winner in the dressing room, especially when they might be in the Premier League for the first time in God knows how long. You can see how that would absolutely give them a lift.”

Robertson was close to joining Tottenham in the winter window, with the London side launching a move for the Liverpool star. They had personal terms agreed with the Scotsman, and were close to agreeing a fee with the Reds.

However, the Anfield side pulled out of the move as they could not get a replacement sorted in time. They tried to end Konstantinos Tsimikas’ loan at AS Roma, but the Italian side was unwilling to let him leave abruptly, which meant Spurs did not get Robertson.

Tottenham is in a tough spot this season, while Liverpool is not at its best either. Spurs are in a relegation scrap and have already sacked Thomas Frank, with Igor Tudor as the interim manager for the rest of the season.
