Hollywood star Ryan Reynolds, of ‘Deadpool’ fame, has carved out a place for himself in the heart of Wrexham fans since buying the club with actor Rob Mac in February 2021. And he has recently shared a passionate message about his partnership with Mac.
Wrexham Owner Posts Emotional Anniversary Message
On Monday, Feb. 9, Hollywood acting duo Reynolds and Mac celebrated their five-year anniversary as owners of Wrexham. Under their leadership, the Welsh team has gained three successive promotions, forging a unique sporting success story.
Celebrating the fifth anniversary, Reynolds took to Instagram and lauded ‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’ star Mac for joining him on the journey involving Wrexham.
“Five years with this guy. We’ve had our own roller coasters of grief and joy no chemical on earth can reproduce. We’ve had confounding problems to solve with no previous experience handling,” the 49-year-old Canadian actor wrote in an Instagram story.
“But we always stuck together and always felt comfortable saying, ‘I don’t know’… which is the best three words in the English language and the best three words leaders can say. We care about this place so much,” the EFL Championship club’s chairman added.
Reynolds added, “Even if I took a minute to truly see it. We didn’t save a town or a football club. We shined a light on a sleeping red beast. It’s awake. And so are we. Wide awake. Up the Town forever.”
Back when Reynolds and Mac officially took over their club in 2021, Wrexham were playing in the fifth tier of the English league system. Now, they are relishing an excellent first term back in the EFL Championship, the league just below the Premier League.

Meanwhile, former England and Manchester United star Ben Foster has suggested Reynolds and Mac’s team have every chance of getting promoted to the Premier League.
“Getting out of the Championship is a big ask, it’s a tough, competitive league with a lot of money involved. But they’ve done it the right way, they’ve given the manager the power to bring in the players he wants. There’s no reason why they can’t keep progressing, because as an achievement, it will never be replicated again,” Foster told PA Media.
The Phil Parkinson-managed outfit are sitting in sixth place in the Championship standings, with them aiming a historic fourth straight promotion. They are currently on 47 points from 31 league matches, boasting a goal difference of +5.
