Real Madrid Transfer Rumors: Los Blancos Make Transfer Decision About $30M Star Who Offered Himself to the Club

Real Madrid made a quick decision after a star player was offered amid interest from other European clubs.

Real Madrid is interested in bolstering its squad in 2026, but January moves have not yet been discussed. Los Blancos typically opt to stay quiet during the winter transfer window, and that trend is likely to continue.

Real Madrid Rejects Chance To Sign Saudi Pro League Star

According to a report by AS, Ruben Neves offered himself to the Spanish giants as he looks to make a return to Europe. The midfielder is reportedly available on a free transfer, as he does not plan to renew his deal, which expires at the end of the season.

However, the Madrid side has decided not to pursue the Portuguese star, as he does not fit the profile the club is targeting in 2026. Real Madrid was made aware of the opportunity by the player’s camp, but talks were quickly shelved.

Neves, who has a Transfermarkt valuation of $30 million, is entering the final six months of his contract with the Saudi Pro League side, and negotiations over a new deal have not progressed. He is free to sign a pre-agreement with any club beginning Jan. 1, 2026, and his camp has been working to identify the best opportunity for him to return to Europe.

Manchester United is another club said to be monitoring the midfielder. Ruben Amorim is keen on adding an experienced presence in midfield, and the former Wolverhampton star fits that profile.

Fabrizio Romano addressed the reported interest on his YouTube channel but pushed back on claims from other media outlets suggesting discussions had taken place between the club and the player. He said:

“I wanted to clarify a couple of things, the first one about Ruben Neves, as I saw many of you asking me about what I said the other day here on the channel. Let me be clear, I didn’t post anything on Ruben Neves on my social media, because there is no news on Ruben Neves in terms of negotiations, in terms of bids, in terms of talks. What Manchester United did is to be in touch with the agent who also represents Ruben Neves.

“But Man United didn’t start a real negotiation with Ruben Neves, with Al-Hilal to sign the player. So at this stage, nothing is moving. They spoke about several players, not just Ruben Neves, several opportunities, something like ideas, opportunities, talents. Ruben Neves is represented by one of the most powerful agents in football. So that’s something absolutely normal, but nothing has really changed so far.”

Apart from Real Madrid and Manchester United, Neves has also been linked with a potential move to Galatasaray.
