Real Madrid star has been compared to Karim Benzema after his stunning form in recent games, but he is not interested and has quickly downplayed it.

Real Madrid Star Talks Down Karim Benzema Comparison

Endrick joined Los Blancos in 2024 as one of the most promising talents coming out of Brazil. The youngster was in fine form at Palmeiras, but things have not gone as planned after his move to Spain.

The forward found it hard to break into the starting XI at Santiago Bernabeu, and it got worse this season under Xabi Alonso. The teenager opted to join Lyon in the January window as he seeks a spot in the Brazil squad for the FIFA World Cup. However, his club performance is speaking a tale of its own.

His time at Lyon has got off to the best possible start, and the teenager has been in sensational form. He has scored five goals in as many matches for the French side, including a stunner in the Coupe de France win over Laval.

Following the match, Endrick was being compared to Benzema, and the Brazilian was not interested. He claimed it was good to see his performance acknowledged, but said the French legend was light-years ahead. This could never have been said more clearly.

Endrick said, “It’s very good for me because he’s a great player, an incredible player, who was the best in the world. But Karim is light-years ahead of me. I hope he does well at Al Hilal. I’m very happy to be here, where Karim played.”

Reports in ESPN Brazil suggest that Real Madrid is keeping tabs on Endrick’s progress at Lyon and has already concluded that the youngster will not be loaned out again. They want him to be a part of the club next season, challenging Kylian Mbappe and Gonzalo Garcia for the striker role.

The Brazilian’s tally of five goals in as many games puts him just two goals behind his tally of seven goals in 40 matches at Los Blancos.

Benzema joined Real Madrid in 2009 after impressing at Lyon. He was an icon at the Bernabeu, winning 25 trophies at the club before joining Al-Ittihad. He has since joined Al-Hilal this week and scored a hat-trick on his debut for his new Saudi Pro League club.
