Real Madrid attacker Rodrygo has established himself as a vital starter for both his club and country over the past few years. Now, he is set to be out of action for both Los Blancos and Brazil for a long time after allegedly suffering an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury.
Real Madrid Man Set To Miss 2026 FIFA World Cup This Summer
According to Ok Diario, Rodrygo is set to be ruled out for the rest of the ongoing campaign after sustaining an ACL injury in his right knee earlier on Monday. He was subject to medical tests on Tuesday, Mar. 3, after injuring himself in a 1-0 loss to Getafe.
Rodrygo, who turned 25 earlier this January, recovered from tendonitis in his team’s recent home defeat against Getafe. He apparently picked up the injury minutes after coming on as a second-half substitute, yet he managed to complete the match for the hosts.

The three-time La Liga winner is also expected to miss the 2026 FIFA World Cup as his ACL injury is likely to keep him out for six to seven months. He competed in the last World Cup, providing 1 assist in 5 appearances in the 2022 edition.
With Rodrygo joining Kylian Mbappé on the sidelines, Real Madrid are likely to face a tough time in the coming weeks. They will face Celta Vigo in a La Liga away encounter on Friday, March 6, hoping to bounce back after losing two league matches in a row.
Meanwhile, Los Blancos head coach Álvaro Arbeloa has suggested he is responsible for his team’s recent losses to Getafe and Osasuna. He told reporters, “There is not much hope when you lose like this but here no one throws the La Liga. I’m not going to put the excuse on my players’ effort. If there is one responsible for the defeat, it is me.”
Arbeloa further rejected the notion that injuries to the likes of Mbappé and Jude Bellingham were to blame for his side’s below-par performance against Getafe on Monday.

“I see that we have great players who are going to recover and who are going to help us a lot. I understand the criticism, but I really think having played badly, worse, or like normal, we deserved to score more goals than Getafe. We can’t make the excuse of Bellingham and Mbappé because we have a great squad,” the former right-back added.
Real Madrid are currently second in La Liga, with 60 points from 26 games.
