Neymar and Lionel Messi have been teammates at Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain. So, the two, obviously, have formed a good bond off the pitch as well. We surely don’t need to remind anyone how lethal the two were, together on the pitch. It’s only befitting to hear that now the Brazilian has given the Argentine a rather special gift.
Neymar and Lionel Messi Remain Connected After Years
The duo got together at Barcelona in 2013 when the Brazilian moved to the Catalan club. They had a reunion in 2021, when Messi moved to PSG after Neymar’s $250 million move in 2017. They played 206 matches together at Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain, combining for 67 goals.
Santos has now taken to their social media account to share a photo of Messi and his sons, holding the jersey of Neymar. They revealed that the jersey was a replica of Pelé’s, not the current club kit.
They added that the number 10 is iconic for Messi, Neymar, and Pele, and that the trio has immortalized it. The replica kits held by Thiago and Matteo were signed by the 34-year-old Brazilian, and the post said:
“From Neymar Jr. to Lionel Messi. From the Prince to the Genius. The Sacred Jersey, of immeasurable value, with the number immortalized by the King. 10 for Neymar. 10 for Messi. 10 for Pele. An infinite legacy in the history of football. Greetings from Vila Belmiro, Lionel Messi!”
Both players left PSG in 2023 because they were unhappy at the Ligue 1 club. The Argentine’s contract was up, and he moved to Inter Miami on a free transfer, while the Brazilian was sold to Al-Hilal, where he spent 18 months.
Neymar and Messi were linked with a reunion at Inter Miami, but the MLS club has not made a move to sign the Brazilian star. He has extended his contract with Santos for another season and will remain with the club until the end of 2026.

The 34-year-old suffered a knee injury towards the end of the 2025 season and underwent surgery after helping the club avoid relegation. He has now recovered and returned to the pitch, aiming to regain form and make it to the Brazil squad for the FIFA World Cup this summer.
Meanwhile, the Argentine has extended his contract at the Florida-based club until the 2028 season. He signed the new deal last season after months of negotiations and is likely to end his club career with the MLS side.
