Since the conclusion of the 2026 FIFA World Cup draw, the entire soccer world is pepped up for next summer’s much-anticipated international tournament. Now, former Portugal star Nani has urged Al-Nassr legend Cristiano Ronaldo to fix one particular issue in his national team.
But what has Nani told his former teammate Ronaldo to do to better his team?
Cristiano Ronaldo Told To Mend Portugal Ahead of 2026 FIFA World Cup
Former Manchester United and Sporting CP winger Nani has suggested that Ronaldo should help Portugal players form a proper camaraderie before the start of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
“I think we have to be very confident and positive for the World Cup. I think everyone knows we have a fantastic group of players, very talented players. The only thing they have to fix is the group, the environment,” the former Fenerbahce and Orlando City winger told The Sun.
Nani continued, “They need to be all connected and believe in the same goal. If they do that, for sure they will do very good in the competition because we have a fantastic team. It also depends on how the other teams will prepare, but we have a big chance next year.”
Portugal, who will be led by Ronaldo in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, are set to face Colombia, Uzbekistan, and one of New Caledonia, Jamaica, or DR Congo in the group stage next year. They are the highest-ranked side (6) in Group K, with Colombia just behind them in 13th.

“I did a deal with (Ronaldo’s agent) Jorge Mendes. But Chelsea said no. Cristiano Ronaldo was (available for) $4 million, and the deal was everything over that was split 50-50 with the club. He played against Manchester United pre-season, ruined them and straight after the game they paid (over) $13 million and Jorge must have stuck $4 million in his pocket. Good luck to him but I was gutted,” Silkman told The Telegraph (via GOAL).
After joining Manchester United, the Portugal legend went from strength to strength before winning his first Ballon d’Or award in 2008. He scored 145 goals and provided 73 assists in 346 overall appearances for the Red Devils across two spells.
