Liverpool attacker Mohamed Salah’s future has been the talk of the town since he hit out at the Reds’ leadership for apparently making him a scapegoat for his team’s recent struggles. And now, one of his former clubs are reportedly interested in signing him this year.
Mohamed Salah To Be Offered Way out of Liverpool
According to La Repubblica, AS Roma are hoping to facilitate a reunion with Salah after the end of the ongoing 2025-26 campaign. The Serie A outfit are keen to make the most of the Egypt international’s strained relationship with Liverpool head coach Arne Slot this summer.
However, the Gian Piero Gasperini-coached team would first have to secure a top four place in the 2025-26 Serie A standings to stand a chance of signing Salah. They are currently in fourth spot with 33 points from 17 matches, three points off league leaders Inter Milan.
Salah, who turned 33 last June, spent two fruitful seasons at Roma before joining Liverpool in 2017. He found the back of the net 34 times and registered 21 assists in 83 appearances across competitions for the Giallorossi after initially arriving on loan from Chelsea in 2015.
The four-time Premier League Golden Boot winner, who is currently competing at the Africa Cup of Nations, has scored just five goals in 20 overall matches for Liverpool this season.
Liverpool Superstar Bemoans Team’s Latest Performance
After Liverpool’s 0-0 Premier League home draw against Leeds United on Thursday, Jan. 1, Reds captain Virgil van Dijk rued his team’s poor finishing and attacking movement.
“I think we didn’t create enough chances to deserve a win. Obviously, Leeds defended well but, I think we should have done better. I think we were not great in our last part of our game, and then obviously, it’s key to make sure that we don’t concede and we did that well. But we want to do much better in the last part of our game,” the Dutch defender told liverpoolfc.com.

Van Dijk concluded, “Obviously the intentions are clear, we want to do it, but unfortunately it didn’t happen and now we have to focus on a trip to London, what will be very, very difficult as well. I think you have to stay patient, even if you want to go at them in possession as quickly as possible, go at their last line as quickly as possible.”
The Reds, who are fourth in the Premier League table with 33 points from 19 matches, will next face Fulham in a league encounter at Craven Cottage in London on Sunday, Jan. 4.
