Lionel Messi has played a key role in attracting players to Inter Miami and has also helped the club lure in his former teammates. Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets have come and gone, while Luis Suarez and Rodrigo De Paul remain with the Herons this season.
Inter Miami Submits Bid to Sign Argentine Striker
Suarez’s contract at Inter Miami is expected to run through the end of the season, but the club is aware that his age has begun to catch up with him. The former Barcelona striker remains a key figure in Javier Mascherano’s squad, but the organization is also planning for the future.
Reports in MARCA indicate that the MLS Cup champions have submitted a bid for Argentine-born Mexican striker German Berterame following a recommendation from Messi. The Monterrey star has scored 67 goals in 152 games for the Mexican side and is now close to making the switch to the Eastern Conference club.
The Mexican side’s sporting director, Jose Antonio Noreiga, confirmed that talks are ongoing with the MLS club after receiving an offer. He added that Monterrey is already searching for a replacement, hinting that the team may be close to accepting the bid.
“I can tell you and confirm that there has been an approach [from Inter Miami] and a proposal that is interesting to Berterame. It interests German, and it could be interesting for us. If we decide that the offer is interesting and that German leaves, we will do everything possible, and we are already working on it to replace him.”

The bid is reportedly around $15 million, and the Liga MX forward is keen to make the move. Inter Miami co-owner Jorge Mas has already confirmed the offer and told the media:
“First of all, German Berterame is a great player. We had a chance to face him in the Concacaf Champions Cup the year before last. He is a great player, and we aspire to have a great roster. There is an offer from Inter Miami for German Berterame. We’ll see how that unfolds in the next 24 to 36 hours. I repeat that we aspire to have an extraordinary roster to give Masche the tools he needs and he is a quality player that deserves to be on our roster.”
Inter Miami has already bolstered its squad this month with the additions of Sergio Reguilon, Micael, Facundo Mura, Dayne St. Clair, and David Ayala.
