After winning just one of their last four Premier League outings, Manchester United are said to be hoping to sign new players to bolster their top-four chances. And, they are reportedly keen to sign a Bayern Munich-linked youngster in the January transfer window.
So, who is the mystery player Bayern Munich has identified as a transfer target of late?
Who Is Manchester United Monitoring as a Possible Transfer Target?
According to Sky Sports, Manchester United are currently keeping close tabs on RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande after being snubbed by Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo. They have identified the Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain target as a potential winter signing.
Diomande, who could be available for between $70 and $82 million, has popped up as a key forward for his club since arriving from Leganes last summer. The 19-year-old has registered six goals and two assists in 14 overall appearances for the Bundesliga outfit in 2025.
Should the Ivory Coast international decide to join Manchester United this month, he could prove to be a good signing for the Red Devils. He would offer much-needed competition to the likes of Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha, and Amad Diallo in the club’s wide positions.
Ex-Manchester United Striker Lavishes Praise on Antoine Semenyo
Manchester United cult hero Dwight Yorke has likened Bournemouth star Antoine Semenyo to former Red Devils wingers after urging his former club to add the Ghanaian to their ranks.
“For Manchester United, he would get fans off their seats. I think he could take the ball up the pitch, to relieve the defenders. I think it would be a significant move from the manager’s standpoint. Over the years when United have always played, they have players who take the ball up high up the pitch, which relieves the defenders, Semenyo can do that,” Yorke told PokerScout (via GOAL).

Yorke, who played for Manchester United between 1998 and 2002, added, “It’s been key to United’s success over the years. Andrei Kanchelskis, to Ryan Giggs, to David Beckham, to Cristiano Ronaldo, to Antonio Valencia, those type of players always get the ball, take it really high and deep into the opposition half. That’s what he would bring as well as goals and his creativity. I think he’ll be an exceptional player.”
Semenyo, however, is close to joining Manchester City as Pep Guardiola’s side has agreed to pay his $87 million exit clause, as per the BBC. The Manchester United and Liverpool target has scored nine times and laid out three assists in 18 league games so far this campaign.
