Manchester United are on the up again, and they are ready to spend big to sign the best talents to bolster Ruben Amorim’s squad. However, they have suffered a setback in their pursuit of a key target ahead of the January window.
Manchester United Made To Wait To Sign Key Target
Nottingham Forest are aware of the interest in their star midfielder, Elliot Anderson, and of his skills. The Englishman has a host of clubs chasing him, but Sean Dyche’s side is not interested in selling him anytime soon.
According to a report in The Athletic, Forest has decided to keep their key player in the January window. Their stance on not selling him will not change, regardless of the bid and the club’s decision to make the move.
The report states that Manchester United has made Anderson its main midfield target, but faces severe competition from within the Premier League. Manchester City, Liverpool, and Chelsea are also keeping tabs on the former Newcastle United star.
The 23-year-old is highly rated after his impressive display for NFFC so far. Former Premier League striker Dean Saunders made bold claims about him earlier this month, telling BoyleSports (via MEN) that Man Utd should break the bank to sign him.
“Elliot Anderson understands the position. He understands when he should go forward and who he’s playing with. He doesn’t give the ball away, which is a common trait among the best players I ever played with. They’ve all got one thing in common – they don’t give the ball away, and he’s one of them. He’s getting better. Forest just needs to get a few more wins and get him up the league so he can play without the pressure being on him.”
“Manchester United picked up another win at the weekend, which is keeping the wolves from the door. Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko, I think they’re better than what they had. They’ve signed three good players there and adding Anderson to it would be special.”
He further added that Ruben Amorim has just got to keep surviving. Amorim’s job now is to survive. “He’s just got to keep getting three points when he needs it and giving himself time to work this jigsaw puzzle out.”
Forest have made it clear to all suitors that they will not encourage any offer, even if they hit the $125 million mark.
As for Man United, they are open to breaking their transfer record as they need a long-term replacement for Bruno Fernandes, who has been linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League, while Casemiro is also close to leaving the club.
