Manchester United Icon Patrice Evra Points to Manager Who Could Change Everything for the Club

Patrice Evra has been publicly backing Michael Carrick for the Manchester United job, but has now named his dream manager if the club is looking elsewhere.

Manchester United is searching for the next manager as Michael Carrick continues to impress at Old Trafford. Former defender Patrice Evra has now named the coach he would like to see the club hire.

Patrice Evra Wants Champions League Winner at Manchester United

Ruben Amorim was sacked in January, and Manchester United has since hired Michael Carrick. The Englishman has six wins, one draw, and one loss in his eight matches, but many still do not think that he is ideal for the club in the long run.

Club legends Paul Scholes and Gary Neville have been vocal about it, and now Patrice Evra has joined them. The Frenchman first hit out at the duo for bringing negativity to the club by talking against the manager, but then named Luis Enrique as the manager he would like at Old Trafford.

Evra named the Paris Saint-Germain coach as his dream appointment at Manchester United, hailing him for his tactics and philosophy. He claimed that the Spaniard’s man-management is also a key factor for his choice and told Stake:

“Luis Enrique would be a dream coach for Man United. I love the man, I love his philosophy, what he went through in his personal life and overcame it shows his personality. The job he’s done at PSG by bringing them a Champions League without Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappé or Neymar, it’s a fantastic job. Players would have to work really hard to play for Man United; they’ll have to run a lot, and I think Enrique would bring that.”

However, Evra put weight behind Carrick once again, saying that the Englishman should not be ruled out of the race. He believes that the former midfielder is doing well and proving himself at Old Trafford, and should be given a chance as he understands the club and its needs.

“But, I don’t think we should write off Michael Carrick. He’s done a great job, and we need to give him an opportunity. People want an amazing manager for Man United, but right now, we need someone who understands the club and the players. Enrique is a genius tactician and great with players, but I think Carrick deserves a chance.”

Carrick joined on a short-term deal in January and has done well. He has confirmed that the plans are just short-term as things stand, and he is not thinking about the summer and beyond, as he wants to win matches rather than focus on the future.
