Manchester United have reportedly been linked with Chelsea star Cole Palmer over the past week or so, with reports asserting the player is unsettled at the Blues. And the Red Devils have allegedly arrived at a decision about potentially signing Palmer.
Manchester United’s Transfer Stance Over Cole Palmer Revealed
According to The Mirror, Manchester United have decided that they will not attempt to snap up Palmer from Chelsea this summer. The Red Devils’ hierarchy knows that the playmaker is out of their price range and feels they have enough attacking midfield depth.
The Old Trafford team’s leadership also believes summer signings Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, signed for a joint $186 million, can both deputize in a number 10 role. They have also planned to offer club captain Bruno Fernandes a contract extension soon.
On the other hand, Chelsea head coach Liam Rosenior is of the opinion that a potential exit for Palmer, who has a contract until June 2033, is out of the question right now.
When asked to shed light on the recent rumors, Rosenior responded, “There’s no reason for assurance. It’s so unrealistic… come from nowhere. There’s nothing in it. There’s no reason to have the conversation. That’s where I’m at. Cole is very happy.”
Rosenior concluded, “I’ve had numerous conversations with him. Our thoughts are on how we can make the team better, how he can improve and how I can help him. He loves being here and he wants to be a Chelsea player. You can’t stop speculation, but some speculation is so far from the truth. There’s no point in having a discussion about it.”

Palmer, who was born in Manchester, rose through the youth ranks of Manchester City prior to his potential $58 million move to the Blues in the summer of 2023. The 23-year-old has helped his club win two trophies, including the FIFA Club World Cup, so far.
A left-footed technical dribbler blessed with vision and shooting, the Englishman has made 111 appearances across all competitions for the Stamford Bridge outfit. He has contributed 48 goals and 31 assists for the Blues.
Meanwhile, Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe and CEO Omar Berrada have both decided the focus of summer recruitment should be a defensive midfielder. The Red Devils, as a result, are monitoring Crystal Palace star Adam Wharton, Nottingham Forest ace Elliot Anderson, and Brighton & Hove Albion man Carlos Baleba now.
