Manchester City progressed to the 2026 EFL Cup final after easing past Newcastle United at the semi-final stage earlier this week. And, Cityzens attacker Omar Marmoush has issued a warning to Premier League leaders Arsenal ahead of the EFL Cup final.
Manchester City Ace Hopes To Beat Arsenal in Cup Final
Earlier on Wednesday, Feb. 4, Manchester City entered the second leg of the EFL Cup semi-final against Newcastle with a healthy 2-0 lead. They registered a 5-1 victory on aggregate over Eddie Howe’s side after winning the second leg 3-1 at Etihad Stadium.
Marmoush, who has played second fiddle to Erling Haaland since leaving Eintracht Frankfurt in January 2025, found the back of the net twice against the Magpies. He netted the opener in the seventh minute before doubling his tally in the 29th minute of the tie.
After the end of the EFL Cup semi-final second leg clash, Marmoush stated that he is keen to lift the domestic trophy, with the final scheduled to be held on Mar. 22 this year.
“We showed a very good mentality (against Newcastle, who are) one of the biggest clubs in the world. We are here to win trophies. We were together as a team. From the first minute, we were very focused on the job,” the 26-year-old attacker told Sky Sports.
Marmoush, who joined Manchester City in a $72.6 million move last January, also stated that he is looking forward to winning his first silverware at Pep Guardiola’s side.
“We showed our mentality and passion and are very happy to reach the (EFL Cup) final. We give our best every day to reach these finals and win silverware. Hopefully, we can do it for all the new players and also the players that were here,” Marmoush added.
While Manchester City knocked Newcastle out, EFL Cup finalists Arsenal triumphed over city rivals Chelsea in a two-legged affair at the last-four stage. The Gunners recorded a 3-2 win in the away first leg before defeating the Blues 1-0 at Emirates Stadium.

During a brief chat with City Studios, Marmoush also said the Cityzens are hoping to reach every final this season, with the club still in contention in three competitions.
“It’s the best feeling to reach a final. We would like to reach every final we can reach (this season). We’re very happy to be there. Now focus on the next games, and hopefully we can win the (EFL Cup) final,” the 46-cap Egypt international commented.
The Etihad Stadium side boasts a sub-par head-to-head record against Arsenal, having registered three losses and three draws in their last six meetings.
