Inter Miami U8 side won the Weston Cup U8 Gold (Red) title this week, with Messi watching from the stands as the first team gears up for their first match of the season. The Argentine was a proud father this week as his youngest son played for the winning side.
The side, led by Ciro, was in stunning form throughout the tournament, scoring 57 goals in just five matches. They won their semifinal against Weston FC 11-2 and followed it up with an impressive 10-2 win in the final over Galacticos Soccer Academy.

While the scorelines themselves were impressive, the Herons saw a photo from the game go viral this week – the celebration of Lautaro Suarez and Ciro Messi. The duo was seen copying the Uruguayan legend’s Pistolero celebration during the final.
Pistolero has been the iconic celebration of Suarez’s career, earning him the nickname El Pistolero. The Uruguayan will have a tough time pulling off the celebrations this season, as Inter Miami has already signed his long-term replacement, Germán Berterame.
The $15 million signing from Monterrey is expected to be the starting striker for Javier Mascherano’s side this season as they look to retain the MLS Cup. The Mexican comes in as one of the best strikers in South America and will be looking to link up well with Lionel Messi.
However, Suarez will still have a role to play this season as Berterame is new to the league and could need time to settle in. He signed a one-year deal, keeping him at the Eastern Conference side until the end of the 2026 season.

The Weston Cup U8 Gold (Red) title was not the only title Inter Miami took home this week. They also won the U9, U10, U13, U14, and U15 titles, making it a successful week for five of their 10 teams.
The MLS club’s academy has been one of the best over the last few seasons, and its U17 team also impressed in MLS NEXT (Red). They reached the final without conceding a goal, but lost 2-1 to Doral SC ENCL 2009.
Their U11 side crashed out in the semifinal, the U12 made it to the final, while their worst-performing side was the U16, who crashed out in the group stage after a loss to ONE FC 16U MLS NEXT AD.
