Real Madrid superstar Kylian Mbappé has officially joined Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi in an elite goalscoring club following his team’s recent 1-1 La Liga stalemate against Girona at Estadi Montilivi.
Despite Los Blancos‘ recent poor run of form across all competitions, Mbappé has shown no signs of slowing down in front of goal this season. He has scored a staggering 23 goals and laid out three assists in just 19 total appearances for his side in the ongoing campaign.
But which elite goalscoring club did Mbappé recently manage to join?
Kylian Mbappé Emulates Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi
Earlier this Monday (December 1, 2025), the Frenchman helped Xabi Alonso’s side avoid defeat at the hands of 18th-placed Girona with a 67th-minute penalty. His most recent goal cancelled out Girona star Azzedine Ounahi’s opener in the 45th minute of the league encounter.
Mbappé, who joined Real Madrid on a free transfer in 2024, bagged his 60th goal of 2025 against Girona, as per MARCA. As a result, he has become only the fourth player, after Ronaldo, Messi, and Robert Lewandowski, to achieve this milestone in the 21st century.
The AS Monaco academy product’s recent milestone is all the more significant as he is the first Frenchman since Just Fontaine in 1958 to score 60 goals for club and country. The 26-year-old has netted 53 goals for Real Madrid while scoring seven goals for France in 2025.

Mbappé, who played alongside Messi between 2021 and 2023, still has five matches across all competitions with Real Madrid to extend his goal tally. He is next likely to feature in Los Merengues‘ La Liga away contest at Athletic Club on Wednesday, December 3, 2025.
Mbappé Hailed For Non-Goalscoring Impact
Ahead of Real Madrid’s upcoming encounter against Athletic Club, Los Blancos head coach Alonso showered praise on Mbappé. He pointed out how the former Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) ace is currently excelling on all fronts.
“He’s been very good individually, helping the team a lot. It’s not just about goals for Kylian, which in the end is the most important thing. Still, he does other hugely fundamental things like leadership, influence, helping his teammates, and that’s so important day to day,” Alonso said in a press conference.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid are on a lacklustre run of form, winning only one of their past five games across all competitions. They are second in the La Liga table with 33 points from 14 matches, just a point behind arch-rivals Barcelona.
