Ex-USMNT Star Janusz Michallik Claims MLS Club Is 100% Committed to Signing Barcelona Superstar This Summer

MLS is attracting the biggest stars in world soccer, and Janusz Michallik claims one Barcelona star is in talks with a club from the United States.

MLS window is open for a few more weeks, but they are unlikely to sign top players from the European sides until the summer window. Janusz Michallik has now claimed that one MLS side is working hard to sign a Barcelona star when the window reopens during the FIFA World Cup.

MLS Side Pushing To Sign Robert Lewandowski From Barcelona

Robert Lewandowski is in the final months of his contract at Barcelona and has not signed a new deal. He has been linked with an exit from the club this summer, and MLS is reportedly a possible destination.

Chicago Fire has his discovery rights, and they are reportedly leading the chase to sign the Polish star. Gregg Berhalter hinted at their interest earlier this month, but refused to confirm if there was an offer on the striker’s table.

Michallik has now reported that the Chicago Fire are committed to signing Lewandowski in the summer. He claims that the club is in direct talks with the Polish star and his wife to convince them of a move to the United States and said:

“The club is 100% committed to signing him. They are trying hard to convince him and his wife. Anna knows that she will receive all kinds of support for her professional development in Chicago.”

The former USMNT star has added that Saudi Arabian clubs are also interested, but the Barcelona star is not considering a move to the country. He reportedly has no plans to return to Germany, where he played for Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund.

Michallik has also ruled out a move to PSG or Premier League clubs, saying they have no interest in the striker. He believes that a move to Italy or staying at Barcelona are the only options for Lewandowski apart from the Chicago Fire this summer.

“They have already discussed it, and I don’t think Saudi Arabia is the best place for the Lewandowskis in terms of quality of life. As for the rest of Europe, Robert will not return to Germany, nor would he stay in Spain unless it was with Barcelona. Luis Enrique is opting for a different type of player at PSG, and in England, I’m not convinced that the biggest clubs have a place for him. The only possible destination would be Italy.”

AC Milan has been linked with the forward, while Inter Miami was also reported to be interested before signing Germán Berterame.
