Inter Miami has been pushing to improve on the pitch, and fresh faces are needed every season to take them to the next level. Fresh faces are needed every season to take them to the next level. The board’s ambition cannot be questioned, especially since the addition of Lionel Messi in 2023.
Inter Miami Set To Keep Hold of Key Player
The Eastern Conference side has done well in the January window, bolstering the squad that won them their maiden MLS Cup last season. They lost two key players, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba, after they announced their retirements, but have acted swiftly to sign replacements.
Sergio Reguilón was added in late 2025 after the Spaniard opted to stay as a free agent since the summer when he left Tottenham.
The 29-year-old’s addition was followed by Facundo Mura and Dayne St. Clair, also on free transfers, with Brazilian defender Micael joining on loan from Palmeiras for the season, and David Ayala traded from Portland Timbers.
The other need of the hour for Inter Miami was keeping hold of the players who played a key role last season. Tadeo Allende joined on loan from Celta Vigo and created MLS history by scoring nine goals in the playoffs.
The MLS club’s co-owner, Jorge Mas, has now confirmed that the 26-year-old will keep his place in the squad for the 2026 season. He has not revealed if the Argentine will be joining on a permanent deal or another loan, but told the media:
“Tadeo was a key player for us; it was extraordinary what he did at the end of the year, so yes, he will be on our roster.”

The other rumor this month was the possible exit of Telasco Segovia, who had interest from Spain. Real Betis were keen on signing the midfielder, and reports suggested that the La Liga side would be open to a swap deal with Giovani Lo Celso moving in the opposite direction.
However, Mas has ruled out the midfielder’s exit, confirming that they had offers but will not be entertaining them this month.
“We have had offers for multiple Inter Miami players, and we are not in the market to move Telasco. He is a great player who has helped this club a lot and will continue to do so. We count on him being part of our roster for the entire season.”
The MLS Cup champions are in talks to sign Germán Berterame from Liga MX side Monterrey and are likely to seal the move this week.
