Liverpool Fans Delighted As Florian Wirtz Finally Scores in the Premier League

An emotional afternoon at Anfield turned into a special day for Wirtz as he scored his first league goal for the English side since his $134 million move. The German scored the second goal of the game as Liverpool held on for a 2-1 win over bottom-placed Wolverhampton.

Arne Slot’s men took the lead through Ryan Gravenberch just four minutes before the halftime break. The home side were quick after the restart and got their second less than a minute later.

Hugo Ekitike dropped deep to collect the ball before slipping it through to Wirtz in the box. The German, who had been waiting for such a pass from his teammates for months, managed to poke it past the Wolves’ goalkeeper.

Liverpool fans were delighted with the German scoring, with one hoping it was the start of the floodgates opening for the $134 million star, posting: “Wirtz has finally scored. He got a lot of grief from everyone while was yet to score, so I hope he gets a few more goals and assists between now and the end of the season.”

Another added that it was better to finally get a goal after he had been heavily insulted by rival fans, saying: “Better late than never, Bro got insulted a lot”

One fan jokingly suggested it was the end of times, posting: “The world is coming to an end.”

The Reds faithful have been patient with the attacking midfielder since the summer, and one fan suggested they were now being rewarded for keeping the faith, writing: “They called Liverpool fans mad men for being patient.”

Some fans jumped the gun and sent warnings to the rest of the league, declaring Wirtz the best in the division and claiming his goal would unlock his full potential, posting: “The best in the league. Rivals be scared now.”

One fan was simply delighted to receive an early Christmas gift, believing the German had waited for the right moment to score, saying:

Wirtz was delighted to have broken his scoring drought, admitting he was confident of finding the back of the net on the day. He accepted that it had taken him too long to get on the scoresheet.

Liverpool face Leeds United next in the Premier League on New Year’s Day, with a trip to Fulham to follow.
