Mohamed Salah’s future at Liverpool has been a huge talking point since he waged a war of words with the Reds’ leadership last December. He was unhappy for being benched by Reds head coach Arne Slot earlier in the ongoing 2025-26 campaign.
And now, transfer insider Fabrizio Romano has shed light on the player’s current situation.
Insider Hints at Mohamed Salah’s Liverpool Exit This Year
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano asserted the Liverpool winger could be a subject of interest from Saudi Pro League and Major League Soccer (MLS) clubs soon.
“Saudi Arabian teams will be back for Salah in the summer transfer window. They are going to be back in conversations. Al-Ittihad could be one of them. They lost a superstar in Karim Benzema and N’Golo Kante in the final hours of the January window. And they did not have time to replace them, so Salah could be a part of the conversation in the summer.”
Romano also stated that the chances of the 33-year-old left-footed player leaving Liverpool after the end of this season are high, with MLS clubs also said to be in the mix.
“Let’s see also from the MLS if some club decided to enter the conversation and sign Salah from Liverpool. I think it’s going to be an interesting summer (for the player). He ended up staying (despite earlier interest). But, in the summer, the story could be different.”
Since signing a two-year contract extension last April, the four-time Premier League Golden Boot winner has suffered a dip in form. He has struggled to replicate last season’s form for his club this season, scoring just six goals in 26 total games so far.
The former Chelsea and AS Roma winger, who registered 34 goals and 23 assists last term, has also provided seven assists for Arne Slot’s side this campaign. He is next likely to be in action in a FA Cup clash against Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday, Feb. 14.

Salah, valued at $36 million by Transfermarkt, could be replaced by AC Milan star Christian Pulisic at Liverpool in the upcoming summer transfer window.
According to journalist Nicolo Schira, the Merseyside outfit is monitoring Pulisic’s situation at AC Milan, with the forward’s contract set to expire in 2027. They were reportedly keen to sign the American while legendary manager Jurgen Klopp was at the club.
Pulisic, who has an option to extend his AC Milan contract until June 2028, has contributed 12 goal involvements in 20 total club outings this season. In comparison, the Egyptian star has 13 goals and assists in 26 overall matches for the Reds this campaign.
