Cristiano Ronaldo Allegedly Furious About Fair Treatment As He Strongly Opposes Karim Benzema’s Al-Hilal Transfer

Cristiano Ronaldo has voiced his opposition to Karim Benzema's potential move from Al-Ittihad to Al-Hilal, as per a report.

Al-Nassr superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has arguably helped in elevating the Saudi Pro League to the high table of top domestic leagues over the last couple of years. Now, he is reportedly opposed to Karim Benzema’s proposed permanent transfer to Al-Hilal.

Cristiano Ronaldo Raises Concern Over Karim Benzema Move

According to Turkish reporter Yagiz Sabuncuoglu, Ronaldo has opposed Benzema’s transfer from Al-Ittihad to Al-Hilal in the ongoing transfer window. The 40-year-old believes the Frenchman’s potential move would harm the principle of fair competition.

Benzema, who played alongside Ronaldo at Real Madrid between 2009 and 2018, is on the verge of leaving Al-Ittihad, with the player currently in a contract standoff with his club. As a result, he has reportedly attracted attention from Al-Hilal of late.

Al-Hilal, who are currently atop the Saudi Pro League table, have submitted an official offer to sign Benzema in the near future. They are interested in taking advantage of the player’s current unstable situation to bolster their squad.

The Olympique Lyonnais academy graduate joined Al-Ittihad in July 2023, six months after Ronaldo’s Bosman move to Al-Nassr. The striker helped his team win the Saudi Pro League title and King’s Cup last season, scoring 25 goals across competitions.

Should Benzema seal a permanent switch to Al-Hilal, he could prove to be a major coup for the Saudi Pro League leaders. He would offer valuable mentorship to ex-Liverpool attacker Darwin Nunez and young Brazilian striker Marcos Leonardo at Al-Hilal.

Al-Ahli Ace Reveals Why He Followed Ronaldo to Saudi Arabia

During a recent chat with The Mirror, Al-Ahli striker Ivan Toney revealed why he decided to leave Premier League club Brentford for his Saudi Arabian club in August 2024.

“I didn’t know too much about the Saudi Pro League, but then Ronaldo moved here in 2023 and a few others followed. When the option came around for me to move… I dived deeper into it to see what it was about. And, by that point, it was looking good,” he said.

“When I arrived here and had my first session with the team, even though they are not all players that are well known, they can all play soccer. Obviously, everybody’s going to have opinions on the standard. But, I feel they shouldn’t form an opinion without knowing what it’s actually like,” the seven-cap England international concluded.

Since arriving for $53 million, Toney has scored 56 goals in 72 total matches for Al-Ahli.
