Cristiano Ronaldo’s decision to boycott Al-Nassr matches in the last week has raised quite a number of eyebrows. His current situation has led to a number of rumors popping up about his future at his team, owned by the Public Investment Fund (PIF).
Now, a Portuguese journalist has revealed the Al-Nassr superstar’s next destination.
Cristiano Ronaldo Has His Eyes on a New Continent
During a recent media appearance, journalist Duarte Monteiro hinted Ronaldo would love to seal a switch to a Major League Soccer (MLS) club in the future. However, he also asserted that the right-footed star is currently keen to continue at Al-Nassr.
“Ronaldo is upset about the lack of investment at Al-Nassr and the reduction of the powers of the club’s directors. He wants to play regularly before the FIFA World Cup as a priority… and if no compromise is reached, he will move to the American league,” he said.
Providing additional information, Monteiro stated, “It must be emphasized that his priority now is to stay in the Saudi Pro League and continue representing Al-Nassr.”
The Al-Nassr attacker decided to go on strike following Karim Benzema’s recent switch from reigning Saudi Pro League champions Al-Ittihad to Al-Hilal. The 41-year-old is reportedly unhappy about the PIF not funding notable winter transfers for his club.
According to A Bola, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner is also disgruntled by the ongoing delays in salary payments at Al-Nassr. Having already missed two games, he is expected to continue his strike until the PIF and his club decide to resolve the issue.
Meanwhile, acclaimed transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has downplayed suggestions that the veteran striker is interested in leaving the Saudi Pro League for the MLS soon.

“I can tell you that Cristiano remains upset. But, let’s not overreact about Cristiano to MLS, Cristiano breaking his contract, and this kind of stuff. For now, let’s not overreact. I am not one to speak for Cristiano now. There will be Cristiano clarifying. There will be people close to him clarifying. There will be Al-Nassr for sure also clarifying,” he said.
Ronaldo, who is currently earning around $664,000 per day at Al-Nassr, has a contract with the club that runs until June 2027. He also reportedly has a release clause of $59 million.
On the other hand, Al-Nassr won both of its league matches without Ronaldo earlier this week. They defeated Al-Riyadh 1-0 away on Monday, Feb. 2, before registering a 2-0 home victory over Al-Ittihad on Friday, Feb. 6.
