United States men’s national team (USMNT) player Christian Pulisic is arguably his national side’s most prolific attacker ahead of the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup. And, USMNT icon Clint Dempsey has offered his honest thoughts on the AC Milan star.
Christian Pulisic Backed To Impress at 2026 FIFA World Cup
During a recent interview with FrontRowSoccer, Dempsey claimed Pulisic should be deemed as one of USMNT’s game-changers due to his history of turning up in crucial moments.
“In big moments, whether it was in FIFA World Cup qualifying or we’re playing in World Cup or playing in Copa America, he’s someone that steps up and scores your goals and gets you assists. I’m not worried about what he’ll be able to do on the pitch as long as he’s healthy. I think he’s one of those difference-makers,” Dempsey said.
Pulisic, who has recently made headlines owing to his brilliant form for AC Milan, has made 82 appearances for USMNT since his debut in March 2016. He has scored 32 goals and laid out 21 assists for his national team, winning three CONCACAF Nations League titles.
So far, the former Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund attacker has featured in one FIFA World Cup. He found the back of the net once and recorded two assists in four games in Qatar in 2022 before getting eliminated in the last-16 stage, according to Transfermarkt.
Meanwhile, USMNT will participate in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, set to be held from June 11 to July 17, as one of the co-hosts. The Mauricio Pochettino-coached side will face Australia, Paraguay, and the UEFA Playoff C winner in Group D of the quadrennial tournament.

USMNT International Offers Transfer Advice to Pulisic
During a chat with journalist Alessandro Schiavone, USMNT and Borussia Monchengladbach star Giovanni Reyna was asked to open up on Pulisic’s links with Manchester United.
“I’m sure he’ll make the best decision for himself. It’s none of my business. I wasn’t aware of this interest, but I’m convinced he’ll do the right thing. He’s flying at Milan though. I just hope he continues to play well and arrives in top condition for the FIFA World Cup, because we’ll need him,” the attacking midfielder replied.
Pulisic, who left Chelsea to join AC Milan in 2023, made 98 Premier League appearances in a Blues shirt from 2019 to 2023. He registered 20 goals and 11 assists for Liam Rosenior’s outfit in the English top-flight, according to Transfermarkt.
