AC Milan star Christian Pulisic is arguably regarded as one of the crucial reasons behind the constant rise of the United States men’s national team (USMNT) over the past few years. Now, he has recently received flowers in the form of a comparison to a Rossoneri legend.
So, who has likened Pulisic to a former AC Milan star, and what did he have to say?
Christian Pulisic Lauded by Former AC Milan Official
Former AC Milan Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Ariedo Braida has lavished praise on Pulisic, labeling him as one of the best players in the Serie A. He has also asserted that the 82-cap USMNT player has a playing style akin to Andriy Shevchenko.
“Pulisic is truly a fantastic player, but he’s rarely talked about. He’s not physically strong, but he makes the most of his skills. He’s undoubtedly a top player in the Serie A,” Braida said during an interview with Tuttosport (via Sempre Milan).
Braida, who has also worked as AC Milan’s sporting director in the past, added, “Who do I compare him to? It’s difficult, but sometimes he reminds me of Shevchenko, in his ability to determine the result with a single move and his composure in front of goal.”
Pulisic, 27, has cemented himself as one of the Rossoneri‘s key starters since arriving from Chelsea in the summer of 2023. He has made 112 appearances across competitions for the Serie A side, registering 41 goals and 25 assists in the process.
On the other hand, Shevchenko represented AC Milan from 1999 to 2006 and helped the Rossoneri lift five trophies. The 2004 Ballon d’Or winner bagged 175 goals and provided 46 assists in 322 total matches for the San Siro team before joining Chelsea.

“I’ve heard so many people in the U.S media landscape talk about how they think this is a tricky draw. I don’t. I don’t. This is a guaranteed, U.S. men will top this group,” the former Manchester United and Everton goalkeeper said on the Unfiltered Soccer podcast (via KSNV NBC Las Vegas).
The Mauricio Pochettino-coached side has a high chance of finishing atop Group D, as they are the highest-ranked team (14) in their group. In comparison, Australia is in 26th place and Paraguay is 39th in the FIFA world rankings list.
