Christian Pulisic Told He Is ‘Diabolical’ In Key Area By His AC Milan Coach

AC Milan manager Massimiliano Allegri lauded Christian Pulisic ahead of Saturday's 2-2 Serie A home draw against Sassuolo.

United States men’s national team (USMNT) talisman Christian Pulisic is currently relishing an excellent season at AC Milan. And, Rossoneri manager Massimiliano Allegri has lavished praise on the former Chelsea attacker for one of his key abilities.

So, why did the 82-cap USMNT international receive plaudits from his club’s manager?

Massimiliano Allegri Dissects Pulisic’s Style of Play

Ahead of AC Milan’s recent 2-2 draw against Sassuolo in the Serie A, Conceição claimed Pulisic to be a clinical finisher in and around the penalty area. However, he also suggested the ex-Borussia Dortmund star could still improve as a player.

“He’s diabolical when he’s in front of the goal. In his private life, he’s very reserved, but he transforms on the pitch. He still has room for improvement. He still needs to find his best condition,” the six-time Serie A-winning tactician said in a pre-match press conference.

Pulisic, who turned 27 earlier this September, has started just seven of his 13 appearances across competitions for AC Milan due to two back-to-back injuries this season. He has still managed to score nine goals and register two assists for the Allegri-coached outfit.

After starting the Rossoneri’s home game against Sassuolo on Saturday, Dec. 13, Pulisic is set to be in action against Napoli in the Supercoppa Italiana semi-final next Thursday.

Former Club CEO Likens Pulisic to AC Milan Legend

Former AC Milan Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Ariedo Braida has labelled Pulisic as one of the best players in the Serie A before likening him to Rossoneri legend Andriy Shevchenko.

“Pulisic is truly a fantastic player, but he’s rarely talked about. He’s not physically strong, but he makes the most of his skills. He’s undoubtedly a top player in the Serie A,” Braida said during a recent interview with Tuttosport.

When asked to name a player who has a playing style akin to Pulisic, Braida replied, “It’s difficult (to compare), but sometimes he reminds me of Shevchenko, in his ability to determine the result with a single move and his composure in front of goal.”

Shevchenko, who won the much-coveted Ballon d’Or award in 2004, helped AC Milan win a total of five trophies between 1999 and 2006. The ex-Ukraine international found the back of the net an impressive 175 times and contributed 46 assists in 322 overall games for the Rossoneri before leaving for Chelsea.
