With just two victories in their last seven matches in all competitions, Chelsea are expected to bolster their star-studded squad in the January transfer window. And, the Blues are said to be interested in signing a former Real Madrid centre-back soon.
Chelsea Eyeing Cut-Price Move for Ex-Real Madrid Ace
Chelsea, who lost star centre-back Levi Colwill to an anterior cruciate ligament injury ahead of the start of the ongoing campaign, have conceded 30 goals in 26 total games this term.
To address their defensive issues, the Blues are allegedly keen to sign Lazio defender Mario Gila next month. They are set to face competition from Bournemouth in the race to rope in the Real Madrid academy product, according to Il Messaggero (via Caught Offside).
Chelsea and Bournemouth’s interests come into light in Lazio’s ongoing financial issues. They could have an easy time finalising a winter transfer for Gila as Lazio are ready to sell him.
Meanwhile, Gila has established himself as a key starter for Lazio since leaving Real Madrid for over $7 million in the summer of 2022. The 25-year-old Spaniard, who is valued at $35 million by Transfermarkt, has started all 16 of his overall club appearances this season.
Ex-Chelsea Academy Star Opens Up on Blues Exit
Former Chelsea ace Lewis Hall has asserted that he left his boyhood team at the right time, also claiming he is delighted to have contributed to Newcastle United’s recent success.
“(Chelsea) was unbelievable for me, but I think I left at the perfect time. The direction that this club (Newcastle) wants to go in, the way Chelsea wanted to go forward with lots and lots of young talent, it was best for my career that I made this move and I think it has panned out really well for me,” Hall said (via Metro).

Hall, who joined Newcastle in an initial loan switch in 2023, added, “I really believed in it at the time, and I think it’s worked out perfectly. I’ve achieved a lot of things which I don’t think I would have been able to achieve if I would have stayed there. But Chelsea have played a massive part in helping me to be that player who got the move in the first place, and I’m always grateful for that.”
So far, Hall has started 48 of his 71 appearances across competitions for his current team. The left-back has scored two goals and provided six assists for Eddie Howe’s side as well.
