Chelsea has been linked with a transfer of Barcelona midfielder Marc Casadó. The Blues have previously attempted to sign him (as per reports) and now believe him to be a realistic target in the coming windows. Casadó, 22, fits the profile of players BlueCo has been signing since taking over the club back in the summer of 2022.
Moreover, the two clubs have shared the stage multiple times over potential transfers since then, with the Barcelona midfielder the latest to join the mill. Let’s take a look at the potential details surrounding the transfer.
Chelsea Are Convinced That Marc Casadó Can Be Taken Away From Nou Camp
Chelsea have been linked with multiple players from Barcelona over the last few years, including first-team players like Frenkie de Jong, Ronald Araújo, FermÃn López, and Eric GarcÃa, to name a few. Casadó is a name they have visited in the past. Despite not being able to strike a deal, the Blues have reportedly tracked the player’s journey at Barcelona and now believe that he can be lured into joining SW6.

Casadó, who is reportedly valued at $35 million, has played 698 minutes of football this season, spanning across 15 games. With an average of a little over 45 minutes of football, Casadó might be tempted to garner more game time, which is where Chelsea might become an interesting prospect.
Despite having Moisés Caicedo, Roméo Lavia, Enzo Fernández, Andrey Santos, and Dário Essugo in midfield, the Blues will be looking at new faces. Both Essugo and Lavia have proven to be injury-prone so far, which has added a lot of playing time and overload on Caicedo and Fernandez. With a heavy pile of fixtures behind them and a bigger lot to come over the next 18 months, Chelsea will need fresh faces in their midfield.
Is There a Downside to Signing Casadó for Chelsea?
Chelsea has spent well over £1.5 billion since BlueCo took over back in 2022. While the squad has been revitalized with young, talented players like Cole Palmer, Caicedo, and Pedro Neto, the Blues have also had their fair share of bad signings.

Mykhailo Mudryk, João Félix, Axel Disasi, and Raheem Sterling, among others, have failed to come good at the club. While the books continue to get balanced courtesy of Chelsea’s excellent ability to sell players for decent fees, the problem stems elsewhere.
The squad has a plethora of players who fall into the same bracket of profiles and quality. Besides Fernández, Caicedo, Reece James, Palmer, and a young Estêvão, other Chelsea players have not yet shown potential to become world beaters.
The problem with signing a player who is failing to garner minutes at his current club is that it would indicate that Casadó will add to the squad numbers, but might not necessarily take Chelsea to the next level.
