Chelsea dropped points once again in the Premier League on Saturday, February 21, putting them in a tough spot in the race for the UEFA Champions League spots. JoĂŁo Pedro has now commented on the home draw against Burnley and slammed the team’s performance, including his own.
JoĂŁo Pedro Comments As Liam Rosenior’s Side Drop Points Again
Pedro scored early in the game to give the home side a 1-0 lead at Stamford Bridge, and it looked like they were going to cruise to three points. However, Liam Rosenior’s side lacked the urgency and allowed the relegation-threatened opponents to ease back into the game.
A red card to Wesley Fofana in the second half for a second bookable foul saw the tables turn. Burnley took full advantage and were attacking at every chance, and were rewarded in stoppage time, as Zian Flemming headed home from the corner to make it 1-1.

Pedro spoke to the club’s media team after the draw, admitting that it was a frustrating result as they kept missing chances. He said that dropping points for the second week running in the league against sides towards the bottom of the table was not ideal, and they need to find a solution quickly.
Pedro said, “We need to find solutions in these types of games, because we need to earn points in the Premier League. We need to win these types of games, and we are just very frustrated that we weren’t able to see the game out [from a winning position].”
The Brazilian forward went on to admit that the red card to Fofana made it harder for the home side to hold on. He added that they need to learn how to handle games even with 10 men and said:
“I think the red card made things difficult but we still had enough about us to get the win. Before the red card, we should have put the game to bed. When you go to a man less, of course things get more difficult. I didn’t really see the incident too clearly, but we need to learn how to manage the game in those situations because, regardless of having a man less, we are Chelsea and these type of games at home we have to win.”
Chelsea face title-chasing Arsenal next in the Premier League. The Gunners are the only side to beat Rosenior’s side since the manager took over in January, with both defeats coming in the Carabao Cup semifinal clashes at Stamford Bridge and the Emirates.
