Arsene Wenger is rightly regarded as one of the greatest managers of all time. He managed for 22 years until leaving in 2018, and won the Premier League title thrice, along with seven FA Cups. He transformed the Gunners into a team that regularly competed for titles and consistently secured a place in the top four.
However, the club hasn’t won the league since 2004 – a hugely disappointing statistic for a club of their stature. They have finished runners-up in the last three seasons but now stand a very real chance of ending that three-decade drought.
Arsene Wenger Is Sure Arsenal Will Win the League
Wenger is confident that Arsenal will go all the way this season, with the Gunners two points clear of second-placed Manchester City after 16 games. Defending champions Liverpool have been inconsistent this season and no longer appear to be title challengers.
Man City, meanwhile, don’t look as invincible as they did in past seasons under Pep Guardiola. Many would argue that this is the Londoners’ best chance of lifting the trophy in recent memory, and Wenger joked that given he’s no longer at the helm at the Emirates, his former team could finally get the job done.
“No, Arsenal will win the league. Why do you ask can? We will win the league. I’m honestly very confident, maybe it’s because I’m not involved. I am very confident, we will win. We have a very balanced team, we have a good team attitude. We have top potential offensively and defensively and in every position we two players and in some we have three players”, Wenger said, via AFTV (h/t Metro).
Arsenal went back to winning ways this weekend following a late 2-1 loss against Aston Villa by reversing that scoreline in a late win against bottom-placed Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Pep Guardiola Sends Title Race Warning to Arsenal
Pep Guardiola believes Manchester City are getting better as the Premier League enters its second half. The Cityzens are now on a strong run, having racked up 18 points from a possible 21 in their last seven matches.

Their most recent league encounter ended in a comfortable 3-0 win against what many consider their ‘bogey team’, Crystal Palace. After the match, Guardiola highlighted that his team demonstrated the same resilience against the Eagles that they had shown in their past title-winning seasons.
“I have the feeling that we are getting better. You believe that the past was always perfect when you look back at all the titles and the 100 points. But for the amount of things we achieved, we had a lot of games like today and the resilience was part of that”, said the former Barcelona manager (via the Irish Examiner).
Arsenal’s next task is an away game against West Ham United on Dec. 20, just a few hours after City take on Everton away from home.
