Arsenal ended its three-match winless streak in the Premier League with a statement win over Leeds United. Soon after the game, Gunners superfan Piers Morgan took to social media to make a bold claim about the club and the title race.
Piers Morgan Hints at Premier League Glory for Arsenal After Rout of Leeds
Mikel Arteta’s side has been on top of the Premier League for the majority of the season, but the last few weeks have seen fans question whether they can maintain that position through the finish. They were held to scoreless draws by Liverpool and Nottingham Forest in January, followed by a 3-2 home loss to Manchester United.
The Gunners bounced back in style against Leeds United on Saturday, Jan. 31, beating them 4-0 at Elland Road. They lost Bukayo Saka to an injury during the warm-up, but still managed to collect all three points and extend their lead at the top of the table to seven points.
Morgan was delighted with the performance and result, and heaped praise on the players. He hailed it as a “statement win,” calling it a title-winning performance, and posted:
“FT: 0-4. Complete performance by Arsenal. A statement performance. The kind of performance that wins the Premier League. 👏”

With 14 games left in the Premier League, many are backing the Gunners to seal the title this season. Arteta’s side also won all eight of their UEFA Champions League matches, but the manager is not getting carried away.
Speaking to the media after the Leeds United win, Arteta said the outside noise needs to be blocked so they can maintain focus. He added that the players must take it match by match and said:
“It’s very impressive. We talk about that noise, but it was a great noise as well, the fact that we were the first team in the Champions League to win eight in a row. That’s a lot of noise, but a very positive one, but we want to always talk more about the other noise. The other noise is part of that; the expectation is to win every game. We compete against incredible opponents, and we know that’s the case, but that has to fuel your energy and desire to win more than anything else, in my opinion.”
Arsenal has the opportunity to take another step toward silverware this season when they face Chelsea in the Carabao Cup semifinal next week at home. They lead 3-2 on aggregate after the match at Stamford Bridge.
