Liverpool spent a whopping $450 million in the summer, which included the signing of left-back Milos Kerkez from AFC Bournemouth. The $54.9 million deal saw the new signing make it straight to the starting 11, ahead of the veteran at the club, Andy Robertson.
Andy Robertson Hints at Liverpool Exit
The Scotsman was talking to the media this week when he hinted that his time at Liverpool was coming to an end. He was asked about his contract situation, and the defender quickly admitted it was difficult to answer at the moment.
He added that the discussions need to be done with his family, as he needs to understand their position. He hinted that he was looking at other options as he edges closer to the end of his contract at Anfield and said:
“Yes, but it’s a difficult question. I’ve got five months left, and we need to see what the option is to stay or if there’s options to go and things like that. I need to sit down with my family and decide.”

Liverpool manager Arne Slot faced the media today, January 16, ahead of their Premier League clash against Burnley, and was asked for his thoughts on the comments from the left-back. The manager praised the veteran for his honest comments, adding that he was pleased to know that his senior player had accepted the new role at the club and said:
“I think I had to give him a big compliment over what he said, very mature and I understood everything he said. Every player should have the same feeling who doesn’t start every game but I am really happy to hear he finds joy in his current position and he understands how important he is and has been for this club. He hasn’t played as much as he would have hoped but what he said in the media was a big compliment.”
The manager refused to comment on the contract situation and side-stepped the question. He hinted that the Scotsman could play this week, just hours after saying he wants to play regularly, as Kerkez is dealing with a minor issue.
The new signing was back in training, but Slot was unsure if the Hungarian would be fit enough to start the Premier League match at Anfield. He was quick to recall Robertson’s comments to the media and said the former Hull City man might get his wish to start this weekend’s match.
