Will the 2026 FIFA World Cup Be Mauricio Pochettino’s USMNT Farewell? Pundit Makes Prediction

Mauricio Pochettino's future with USMNT is in the balance and now Tab Ramos has made an interesting prediction.

Mauricio Pochettino’s contract with the USMNT expires later this year, and he has been linked with a return to the Premier League this summer. Tab Ramos has now made his prediction of the Argentine coach’s future.

Mauricio Pochettino Linked With Tottenham and Manchester United

Pochettino is one of the highly rated coaches in the world, and the USMNT did well to sign him up after his spell at Chelsea. The Argentine has just a few months left on his contract, and there have been no reports suggesting that the United States Soccer Federation is planning to extend it before the FIFA World Cup this summer.

Tab Ramos spoke with GOAL this week about the manager’s future, and he believes the Argentine will not be the USMNT coach after the World Cup. He claimed that the manager still lived in Barcelona and said:

“I do. I expect Pochettino to go. I think he still lives in Barcelona, from what I know. I think he is going to be in Europe after the World Cup is over.”

Manchester United and Tottenham have been linked with Pochettino this summer, as both clubs search for their next manager. The Red Devils sacked Ruben Amorim in January and have brought in Michael Carrick until the end of the season.

Spurs parted ways with Thomas Frank in February and have hired Igor Tudor on an interim basis. The Arsenal commented on his favorite club on the “High Performance” Podcast, picking the North London side, and said:

“It is very simple: Tottenham. Still, the people on the street, the fans of Tottenham, really show the love and the appreciation, and I think that is why it’s so special.”

It was not the first time Pochettino has hinted at a return to Tottenham. Speaking to Sky Sports last year, the Argentine coach admitted that he dreams of heading back to London and said:

“When I left the club, I always remember one interview I said I would like one day to come back to Tottenham. I am in the USA, so I am not going to talk about that now – but what I said then I still, after six years or five years, feel in my heart. Yes, I would like one day to come back.”

Manchester United is also pushing to sign the USMNT coach, but has not made a move yet. The Argentine is not alone on their list, as reports suggest Roberto De Zerbi and Oliver Glasner are also on their wishlist.
