Cristiano Ronaldo and Ousmane Dembele Take Home Globe Soccer Awards
Cristiano Ronaldo was among the top soccer stars honored at the latest edition of the awards in the Middle East. The Portuguese superstar was named Best Middle Eastern Player after his brilliant displays for Al-Nassr and the national team.
He beat out Karim Benzema, Riyad Mahrez, and Salem Al-Dawsari to win the award. The 40-year-old took to social media to post a message and said:
“A special moment to end the year on. I carry on with the same passion, commitment and hunger as always to reach my goals. Thank you to everyone who has supported me this year!”

Lamine Yamal, who missed out on the Ballon d’Or but won the Kopa Trophy, found himself in a similar situation once again. The Barcelona star missed out on the Best Player award but was named Best Forward, beating Ousmane Dembele, Kylian Mbappe, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, and Raphinha.
After accepting his trophy, Yamal said he was not interested in comparing himself to Lionel Messi and Ronaldo. The Spaniard pointed out that the Portuguese superstar carved his own path and said he hopes to do the same in his career. He said:
“It’s best not to compare yourself to anyone. Players like Cristiano Ronaldo did what they did because they wanted to be themselves and not compare themselves to others. I want to build my own path.”
PSG star Vitinha was named Best Midfielder at the awards, with the Portuguese standout beating Cole Palmer, Joāo Neves, Pedri, and Jude Bellingham.
PSG were awarded Best Club after winning six of the seven trophies on offer. Luis Enrique also took home the Best Manager award after guiding the French side to a successful season that included a European treble.
The night’s top honor, Best Player, went to Ousmane Dembele. The PSG forward, who won the Ballon d’Or earlier this year, received the most votes ahead of Mbappe, Yamal, Vitinha, and Raphinha.
MLS side Los Angeles FC also earned recognition, winning the Best Branding award and bringing the trophy to the United States.
