NFL’s holiday lineup is never just about football. Coming together to celebrate, the community enjoys an entire day of football-related festivities. This includes games and the respective mid-game performances for fans to enjoy.
For this season’s Netflix NFL Christmas Gameday, the league has organized multiple halftime shows, one of them featuring Snoop Dogg — who is also a lifelong NFL fan.
Snoop Dogg Has Been a Lifetime Fan of This AFC North Team
On Christmas Day, Dogg will be headlining the Minnesota Vikings-Detroit Lions’ halftime show. However, as the artist has previously mentioned, he is a lifelong fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Dogg, of course, is from Long Beach, California. In a previous interview with NBC’s “Sunday Night Football”, Snoop went into detail about his preference, sharing why he loves the AFC North team.
“Watching them in the 70s, seeing them do what they do. Mean Joe Greene, that commercial, man, that commercial meant everything to the kids,” Snoop Dogg said. “Watching them just go hard in the 70s and win back-to-back…it won me over.”
He’s referring to the old Greene commercial, where the former defensive tackle threw a Coca-Cola at a fan.
Having said that, this isn’t the first time the rapper has spoken about his favorite team. In a 2009 interview with the NBA, the rapper explained that since everyone in the 1970s chose the Raiders over the Steelers, he wanted to pick something different.
“…I just couldn’t go with what everyone was going with,” he explained. “I wanted to go with the Steelers. I loved their attitude and the way they played and went out and won. I became a fan in the 70s and have been riding with them ever since.”
He listed Lynn Swann, John Stallworth, Rocky Bleier, Franco Harris, Donnie Shell, Mel Blount, Jack Ham, Jack Lambert, L.C. Greenwood, and Dwight White as his favorite players.
Snoop added that he continues to watch all Steelers games and has formed close relationships with many players today.
He also performed at a Steelers post-game party after they won Super Bowl XLIII against the Arizona Cardinals.
How to Watch ‘Snoop’s Holiday Halftime Party’?
This year, Snoop Dogg will take the stage at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Aptly named the “Snoop’s Holiday Halftime Party”, the show is a memorable halftime show organized to celebrate the NFL’s Christmas Day lineup.
To make it interesting, HUNTR/X singers — Ejae, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami — from the viral animated movie “K-Pop Demon Hunters” will be joining Snoop on stage. Singer-songwriter Lainey Wilson will also be present.
The halftime show, along with the games, will be streaming on Netflix on Christmas, December 25.
Furthermore, CBS channels in the respective cities will also be broadcasting the game. People in the US can stream the same on their phones with the NFL+ app.
