‘An Amon-Ra St. Brown Type’ — 24-TD WR in 2026 NFL Draft Labeled a ‘Sneaky’ Pick to Become a Bona Fide WR1

After a massive season at UConn, Skyler Bell is drawing comparisons to Amon-Ra St. Brown ahead of the 2026 NFL Draft.

Skyler Bell’s rise from a transfer portal addition to one of the most productive receivers in college football has put him firmly on the radar ahead of the 2026 NFL Draft. After beginning his career at Wisconsin, Bell found a better fit at UConn, where his role expanded, and production followed.

Now 23 years old, he enters the draft with momentum, coming off a season that showcased both consistency and big-play ability. With a strong statistical profile and well-rounded skill set, evaluators are starting to view him as more than just a mid-round depth piece.

Why Skyler Bell Draws Amon-Ra St. Brown Comparisons

The conversation around Bell shifted during a recent episode of PFSN’s “Football Debate Club,” where NFL draft analyst Brian Maafi pointed to his upside in a crowded receiver class.

“A pure number one guy who’s gonna be your guy getting most of the catches and most yards, I think actually Skyler Bell is kind of a sneaky guy that could be doing that. He’d probably fill in like an Amon Ra St. Brown-type of role,” Maafi said.

That comparison centers on role and reliability. Like St. Brown, Bell projects as a high-volume target who can consistently win underneath while still threatening defenses downfield. He operates with timing and precision, quickly uncovering and making himself available to quarterbacks in key situations.

Bell’s versatility is a big part of that projection. He can line up inside or outside, run a full route tree, and create separation at all three levels.

His run-after-catch ability adds another layer, allowing him to turn short completions into chain-moving plays. It is a skill set that often translates well to the NFL, particularly in offenses that emphasize spacing and efficiency.

While he may not have elite size, Bell compensates with polish and consistency. That combination is what fuels the belief that he could grow into a primary option at the next level, even if he is not drafted among the top receivers in the class.

Skyler Bell’s College Production and Draft Profile

Bell’s 2025 season reinforces the idea that his projection is not just theoretical. He finished with 101 receptions for 1,276 yards and 13 touchdowns, earning a B grade and an 85.0 score in PFSN’s CFB WR Impact Metrics. Through a dozen games, that production ranked him No. 6 overall among wide receivers.

His path to that breakout adds context. At Wisconsin, Bell showed flashes but struggled to gain traction in an inconsistent offensive environment. After transferring to UConn in 2024, he began to find his footing, but his 2025 campaign pushed him into a different tier.

He nearly reached 1,000 yards within the first nine games and maintained that level of production throughout the season.

From a traits perspective, Bell stands out as a complete three-level threat. At 6 feet and 185 pounds, he combines explosiveness with fluid movement skills and strong ball tracking. He has improved his hands, reducing the focus drops that appeared earlier in his career, and now profiles as one of the more well-rounded receivers in the class.

In his final mock of the 2026 NFL draft cycle, PFSN analyst Jacob Infante projected Bell to the Baltimore Ravens at No. 80 overall. The fit highlights how teams may view him as a value pick who can contribute early. Infante pointed to Bell’s ability to create separation and produce consistently as reasons he could outperform his draft slot.

Bell may not carry the same level of hype as some of the top receivers in the 2026 class, but his combination of production, versatility, and polish makes him a compelling option.
