The second week of the 2025 NFL regular season is going to feature a rare doubleheader on Monday Night, with the action kicking off in a game between two teams who have been to the playoffs each of the last two years. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers, fresh off a thrilling victory over the Atlanta Falcons, will take on the Houston Texans, who lost their season opener in heartbreaking fashion to the Los Angeles Rams.
However, before the action kicks off, the game is going to have all the pomp and circumstance of a Monday Night Football extravaganza, starting with a special performance for the national anthem. When the players take the field at NRG Stadium in Houston, fans will be treated to a familiar voice as he serenades those in attendance.
Houston Texans Gearing Up for Historic Evening
When the Texans take the field against Tampa Bay on September 15, 2025, it will mark the first instance in franchise history that a home opener is taking place on Monday Night. As a result, the organization is making it an event to remember.
Firstly, after the success the Green Bay Packers had on Thursday Night, Houston is following suit with the game against the Bucs, termed as a Liberty White Out, as fans are urged to show up in white in solidarity with their team.
Despite a start time of 7 p.m. ET, the Texans want fans to show up before 6 p.m. with a slew of performances curated for their entertainment. Before the game, they will be treated to performances from the Houston Texans Cheerleaders, TORO, Deep Steel Thunder, and the Texans Mariachi.
Additionally, there will be a special ceremony to honor the Coast Guard, which will include over 165 members from Air Station Houston and Air Station Corpus Christi. The celebrity portion of the evening will kick off with a Houston legend in town.

WWE Hall of Famer Booker T will be in attendance to kick off the “H-Town” chants, followed by a national anthem performance from Texas-born multi-platinum country music artist Clay Walker.
Four of Walker’s 11 albums have received the coveted platinum certification, with multiple certified gold albums also gracing his discography. One of the biggest names in country music over the last 30 years, Walker has been a regular performer before Texans games at NRG Stadium.

Before a game between the Texans and the Chicago Bears, Walker became the subject of some minor criticism. During his national anthem performance on that particular day, he allegedly made a slight error in one of the lines.
After signing “O’er the ramparts we watched,” he went back a few lines and sang, “at the twilight’s last gleaming,” rather than finishing with, “were so gallantly streaming.” Nevertheless, a seasoned professional, he soldiered through.
