Should I Add Jameson Williams in Fantasy Football?

Detroit Lions WR Jameson Williams is now eligible to return in Week 5 after a surprising turn of events. Should you add the dynamic playmaker in fantasy?

Fantasy football managers have had high hopes for Jameson Williams since coming out of Alabama. The expectation was that he would miss most of his rookie season recovering from his torn ACL, but Year 2 would be where we got to see his talent on full display.

Unfortunately, Williams was suspended by the NFL for the first six games of the 2023 NFL season for gambling, and his fantasy draft stock took a tumble as a result. Did the fantasy managers who drafted him late catch a massive break?

When can we now expect to see the Detroit Lions WR on the field this season?

Should Fantasy Football Managers Add Jameson Williams

As a result of the NFL and NFLPA renegotiating the terms of the NFL’s gambling policy, Williams has now had his six-game suspension reduced to just four! This means he is now eligible to return as early as next week for the Lions in their matchup against the Carolina Panthers.

If Williams is on your waiver wire still, he is an absolute priority pickup at this stage. Stop reading this article and go scoop him up if he’s out there. With his skill set, he could be a valuable fantasy asset this season for lineups.

His game-breaking speed and acceleration will catch the eye of numerous fantasy managers the minute he steps onto the field this season, which means that there will be a bull rush to pick him up off of waivers once that happens.

If he’s still available, you can beat the herd, scoop him up for nothing from a FAAB standpoint, and let him sit on your bench.

It is worth noting that Williams is still very unproven at the NFL level. There’s no telling what his production week in and week out will be, as this will essentially be his rookie campaign. The former Crimson Tide WR only reeled in one catch last year after he returned from injury.

However, the upside that he presents is absolutely worth chasing in your league. He’s going to be a priority pickup as we move ahead into Week 5’s waiver wire discussion.
