Is Shilo Sanders’ NFL Career Over Before It Started? Breaking Down What’s Next For Deion Sanders’ Son

Does the former Colorado Buffaloes standout, Shilo Sanders ' recent activity hint that he is potentially closing the door on his NFL future?

After signing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent, Deion Sanders’ son, Shilo, may be hanging up the cleats before his first regular-season NFL snap.

The Colorado Buffaloes alumnus was cut from the Buccaneers during the preseason and has remained unsigned. Now, the 25-year-old appears to be embarking on non-football-related ventures.

Sanders’ Unfortunate Preseason Leading to Early NFL Demise?

Following a preseason that saw Sanders take a few reps in a Buccaneers uniform, the son of the legendary NFL cornerback has yet to get any looks from other NFL clubs.

For Sanders, the preseason went all but how he had planned. With subpar play and a punch thrown at a Buffalo Bills tight end, it is unknown whether the Texas native will get another rep in the big leagues.

Regardless of what happens moving forward, Sanders is grateful for his opportunities and ready for whatever comes next.

“I’ve been talking to my agent and we’re waiting on the next opportunity,” Sanders said. “If that’s in the NFL, cool, but God has blessed me with a lot of talents to do other things other than play football, you know, and I feel like in every athlete’s life it becomes a point to where the game ends for you.

“And I’m not saying that’s what it is now. I’m just saying mentally I’m good because I know that I got a lot of talents and I’ve been blessed.”

While the safety is not ruling his football career out, he hints at a potential change of pace.
“I’m thankful for my family, my friends, and just my support system. I’ve been cool, I’ve been good,” Sanders continued. “The NFL is just, I mean, they call it ‘Not for long league,’ nothing’s ever certain, even if you make the team, it’s not certain.”

With Sanders potentially pursuing a different path, what does the rookie have up his sleeve?

Sanders Returns to Posting on YouTube After Being Cut by Buccaneers

There is no question that Sanders has always been a presence within the social media realm. The six-year collegiate veteran posted following the waiving from Tampa Bay, and is now back to uploading some of his regularly scheduled content.

Over Sanders’ time on YouTube, he has eclipsed over 213,000 subscribers and posted more than 100 videos.

Similar to the content above, the hard-hitting safety can be seen mostly posting food reviews, vlogs, and a bit of football content sprinkled in.

As the NFL season enters week three, is it possible that Sanders still has an opportunity to enter the league, or even crack a practice squad?

With injuries and question marks on rosters bound to happen, it is possible that the young talent gets a chance to prove himself.
