If you ask 10 people about former Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders, you’ll probably get 10 different answers. He’s easily one of the most polarizing prospects heading into the 2025 NFL Draft.
A lot of that might come from being the son of Deion Sanders, who’s known for his flash and outspoken nature. Some people admire how Shedeur has worked to earn this shot. While it’s true he followed his father’s coaching stops, he’s proven he has the talent to play quarterback in the NFL. Still, that hasn’t stopped the chatter about his personality.
Shedeur Sanders Barks Back at Negative Comments About His Demeanor
Josina Anderson recently posted on X that she was upset to hear an NFL quarterbacks coach — working for a team picking in the top seven — say Sanders came across as “brash and arrogant” in team interviews.
She shared that feedback in a post linking to a report about the comments.
Then, Sanders appeared on the Kay Adams podcast, “Up and Adams,” and she asked him what he thought about that kind of talk.
“I don’t care,” Sanders said about people speaking negatively of him.
“I truly don’t care what nobody has to say about those type of words. That was my first time hearing the word brash in my lifetime. So I really didn’t even care about it. But arrogance is misunderstood,” he added.
Ironically, Sanders also took heat for his look during that same interview. He spoke with Adams from the Pittsburgh airport after visiting the Steelers, wearing a zipped-up jacket and a hood pulled over his head. Critics called it disrespectful — like wearing a hat at the dinner table.

Adams defended Sanders. She said she appreciated him taking time out of his day to talk and believed he was just trying to keep things low-key in a busy airport.
In the interview, Sanders came across as humble and well-spoken — nothing like the “brash and arrogant” label that had been thrown his way.
Sanders isn’t the first player to face these kinds of character critiques. This part of the pre-draft process is always subjective, and not every player will be everyone’s cup of tea.
Since declaring for the draft, Sanders has been all over the board. Early on, he was mentioned alongside Cam Ward as a potential top pick. But more recent mocks have shown him sliding.
That includes Pro Football Network’s latest mock draft, which has him dropping to the Steelers at No. 21. His scouting report says he’s “accurate and tough,” but his athleticism is just average, and he’ll need time to develop.
In the right situation, Sanders could turn into a Pro Bowl-caliber quarterback. Or he could end up being a first-round bust. Either way, his landing spot is one of the biggest mysteries of the draft.
