While his draft day slide remains among the most shocking details to come out of the 2025 NFL Draft, Shedeur Sanders has done extremely well to get acquainted with the league. Through OTAs and training camps, the Cleveland Browns’ rookie has been a huge success story.
But what has stolen the show is his demeanour off the field. Whether it is new teammates, interviews, or even on social media, Sanders is quickly becoming a fan favorite. Recently, he revealed his mindset, both in the present and for the future.
Shedeur Sanders Has a Clear Goal in Mind
Largely projected as one of the two best quarterbacks in the draft, Sanders falling to the fifth round was a shock to everyone involved. However, that drop has given Cleveland some leeway with the superstar rookie and also given them insane value.
At 144, PFSN rates his choice as an A for a Browns team that nailed the draft entirely, earning an overall grade of A-. But Sanders also entered a brutal QB room with stiff competition all around.
After adding Joe Flacco in free agency and Kenny Pickett via trade, the team already had two options at the most important position in the sport. But the addition of Dillon Gabriel in the third round and Sanders in the fifth has given them four legitimate options.
This is without mentioning Deshaun Watson, who will miss the entire 2025 season with an injury. Through his first few months on the team, in training camp and OTAs, Sanders has been a welcome addition to the squad.
His attitude, in particular, is a major positive. Seemingly joking, he told his fans, “I know when I’mma vet what I’m gonna do. I’mma a have a rookie organize my locker every day.” When an off-camera teammate did not agree, Sanders revealed his reasons.

He said he would do the same if Flacco asked him. Additionally, with a former Super Bowl champion on the roster, the son of NFL legend Deion Sanders revealed his gesture for the former Baltimore Ravens great.
Every day, the Colorado Buffaloes alum made it a point to go and ask him, “Ay, bro, you good? You need anything?”
That mentality, along with some excellent showings on the field, is quickly raising the quarterback’s stock in the organization. With no name jumping off the page, there is a chance that there is a legitimate QB competition in Cleveland.
It might not be out of the realm of possibility that Sanders, as a result, ends up as the starting quarterback at some point during the season.
