Shedeur Sandres Realizes the Pressure He’ll Face in the NFL

Sanders has settled in as this year’s QB2 behind Cam Ward. He performed well at Colorado’s Pro Day, but many teams and draft experts are still split on how well Sanders will play in the NFL. This has caused his draft stock to fall from a top-five lock to potentially having a long wait on draft night.

He caught some unwarranted flak for being “disrespectful” in a recent interview with Kay Adams, but the “Up & Adams” host quickly stuck up for Sanders. He’s received a lot of unnecessary heat ever since a report from the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine that he was “unprofessional” in team interviews.

PFSN’s latest three-round mock agrees that Sanders’ stock is falling, having him fall to the Pittsburgh Steelers at No. 21. That would be a massive drop for a player who had been in the first overall pick discussion.

His on-field production speaks for itself. Sanders threw for 4,134 yards and 37 touchdowns while leading FBS with a 74.0% completion rate in 2024. However, scouts are concerned about his arm strength and average athleticism. Many pundits recognize his toughness and pinpoint accuracy, but aren’t sure his overall game will translate to the NFL.

Sanders recently visited the Pittsburgh Steelers and has trips to the Las Vegas Raiders and New York Giants coming up. All three teams have been linked to Sanders in the pre-draft process.

On the latest episode of “2Legendary”, he discussed those teams and what else he’s been up to just over a week out from the draft.

Sanders spoke about the pressure he’ll face once he’s drafted on a recent episode of his podcast “2Legendary”. He said, “I come here strictly with a purpose, and that’s to win. Cause I got a lot of pressure on me and pressure on the franchise, whoever drafts me. So, I gotta make sure I prove myself and those others right. And keep the family name in the utmost respect.”

Despite how fans or media members view Sanders, he’s typically come across as confidently self-aware. The bright lights have never seemed too big for him, likely thanks to his Hall of Fame father, Deion Sanders.

Coach Prime brought immediate media attention to Colorado and thrust Shedeur into the spotlight by naming him the starting quarterback in his introductory meeting. The quarterback has shown he can handle the heat in college, but will he be able to in the NFL?
