Quarterback Shedeur Sanders workouts at Colorado Pro Day prompted a major downward shift in his draft. The quarterback fell down to a late top-25 pick from his initial top-5 pick.
But how low will he actually be drafted? NFL analyst Daniel Jeremiah weighs in on how much significance the discussions surrounding Sanders’s draft stock slide really carry.

The Likely Landing Spots for Shedeur Sanders
Post-Colorado Pro Day, teams like the New York Giants and the Cleveland Browns, who were initially predicted to pick Sanders, are now expected to pass on quarterbacks instead. Sanders is currently linked to the New Orleans Saints at No. 9, the earliest team that could potentially go for Sanders.
The reason behind this, as Jeremiah explains, is that the teams before No. 9 are not quarterback-needy anymore.
The Las Vegas Raiders at No. 6 recently signed a multi-year contract extension with quarterback Geno Smith, eliminating their urgent need to draft a long-term quarterback in Round One. “I don’t feel good about that,” Jeremiah said on the Up & Adams Show about the Raiders picking Sanders.
The New York Jets, who come in at No. 7, are expected to give Justin Fields some runway according to the NFL Insider, which again makes the possibility of them drafting Sanders much lower.
This is what makes the Saints’ choice at No. 9 so “pivotal.”
“The next team is No. 9, the Saints, and that’s where the real conversation starts. Because if he gets beyond No. 9, if you are Shedeur, you’re hoping that it’s the Rams maybe, in that slide or at that point in time. On the broadcast, we are going to start talking, ‘Are those teams, the Giants and the Browns, who have passed on quarterbacks, are coming back in?’. So, No. 9 is going to be a very pivotal moment,” Jeremiah explains.

The only issue with Sanders hoping to be drafted by the Los Angeles Rams is that they hold the No. 26 pick. Several teams between No. 9 and No. 26 could be eyeing Sanders.
For example, the Dallas Cowboys have the No. 12 pick. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has previously met with Sanders, and while the team still has Dak Prescott, nothing would stop the Cowboys from drafting Sanders as a backup and potentially making him the starter in a few years.
The Miami Dolphins at No. 13, the Atlanta Falcons at No. 14, and the Pittsburgh Steelers at No. 21 are also in the market for a quarterback and could become potential landing spots for Sanders. It will be interesting to see whether Sanders stays undrafted until mid-Round One and lands with the Rams, or if he’s taken earlier.
