The second preseason game brought with it a ton of drama for the Cleveland Browns. An uneven performance from their quarterbacks, the home crowd vociferously booing Deshaun Watson, and then an explosive press conference afterward, really soured the team’s momentum.
But for one analyst, a major culprit from that day was Shedeur Sanders. Taking some brutal shots at him, he leveled harsh criticisms. Unfortunately, his stance did not sit well with a majority of the fans.
Shedeur Sanders Wasn’t What Was Wrong With the Browns in Week 2
Taking on the Buffalo Bills, Sanders started the game for the Browns and completed 9 of 11 passes for 74 yards and a touchdown while also giving up an interception. Watson, on the other hand, completed just 5 of his 12 passing attempts.
He tallied a minuscule 36 passing yards and gave up an interception. Throughout his time on the field, the Cleveland fan base laid into him, booing him mercilessly. After the game, he addressed the reaction and called out the fans for having a vendetta against him.
Still, for Bruce Drennan, the fault lay with Sanders for an interview he had conducted on the sideline. Being his usual, candid self, the second-generation quarterback was laid back throughout the conversation, but Drennan saw it differently.

“Did you pay attention diligently to the in-game interview of Sanders in the last preseason game? I mean, I thought he came across as an adolescent goof. I’m sorry. He was terrible, in my opinion, terrible,” Drennan said.
Unfortunately, fans didn’t agree with his stance.

Moreover, some accused Drennan of using the name value that Sanders brings to push his agenda forward, claiming, “Talk about QB1!!! Why are you using a backup QB for clicks?

Others were harsher still on the veteran analyst, writing, “They just let anyone in front of a microphone @Bruce_Drennan clown.”
One fan, though, the problem extended beyond Drennan and to the entire Cleveland media: “This is why people can’t stand the Cleveland media. Whoever gets drafted in 27 will get ran out of the city next lmfao.”

For those who were fans of Sanders’ casual and candid style during interviews, the analyst’s comments seemed redundant.
As one fan argued, “Guys like this want to take all the fun out of sports.”
Others saw his comments as the value Sanders brings to his detractors, believing his name was invaluable to get more engagement, writing, “They can’t stop talking about Shedeur to save their lives. He’s keeping y’all lights on. The more obvious thing is these dweebs finding ANYTHING to pick at.”

However, the entire incident left fans soured with Drennan, as another fan added, “This is a clown, ladies and gentlemen.”
The loud pushback against Drennan was hard to deny. But even if Sanders wasn’t ideal during the interview, the second preseason game had much bigger problems for the Browns that needed to be addressed, rather than a comparatively harmless sideline interview.
