Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders cannot do anything without garnering a lot of attention. That’s just the nature of being a talented player with a famous father.
In addition, Sanders has been under the spotlight more than most rookies. One topic that came up during his historical draft slide was his athleticism.
Just How Mobile is Browns QB Shedeur Sanders?
Sanders has been the center of controversies that he did not create during the season, as the Browns kept him on the bench for most of the year. Sanders made his first start in Week 12 against the Las Vegas Raiders and is finally getting an opportunity to be the team’s quarterback for the rest of the season.
Now, Sanders hopes he can do enough to compete for the starting job in 2026. One way to make a statement would be to play well against Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills in their Week 16 matchup.
Buffalo is squarely in the playoff hunt, and while the Browns are not, playing spoiler could put another positive in Sanders’ corner as Cleveland’s long-term quarterback.
During the first half of Sunday’s game against the Bills, Sanders showed off some athleticism that had pundits buzzing.
NFL analyst Josina Anderson posted on X that she feels Sanders has proven he is plenty athletic.
But some people around the league told me Shedeur Sanders isn’t mobile. Sanders saw Caleb Williams last night? Got inspired perhaps maybe too today ? I think Deion Sanders’ pregame speech to his son has him right too,” posted Anderson on X.

Shedeur Sanders Shows Off Athleticism
When Sanders entered the draft, he was consistently mocked in the first round of the draft, with potential landing spots in Cleveland, New York, and Pittsburgh.
Sanders famously fell to the middle rounds of the draft before his free fall stopped with the Browns taking him in the fifth round.
When Sanders was being analyzed as a prospect, most people pointed to his poise in the pocket, toughness, and accuracy throwing the ball. His detractions were that he held the ball too long and took too many sacks.
One thing that was not often discussed was his athleticism. Sanders is a good athlete, but nowhere near the level of his father, Deion Sanders.
Of course, Deion was one of the greatest athletes to walk the planet, so that was likely an unfair comparison that few will ever be able to match.
However, Shedeur showed he’s not just a sitting duck in the pocket either during Sunday’s game against the Bills. Sanders escaped on a bootleg and made a man miss to turn what could have been another negative play into an explosive run.

Again, nothing Shedeur does is normal, but his athleticism on display caught the eye of multiple pundits in the NFL, including one who called him an underrated runner.
The Browns will have questions to answer under center when the season ends. They may also be looking for a new head coach as the season has not gone according to plan.
Perhaps Shedeur will be part of their plan at quarterback moving forward. Some of that will depend on who decides in the front office.
One thing is certain with Shedeur. It will always be interesting.
