Shedeur Sanders’ slide in the 2025 NFL Draft has already gone down as a historic moment. Once viewed as a potential top-10 pick — and the son of NFL icon Deion Sanders — he fell sharply down draft boards and went unselected through the first three rounds.
Despite the difficult and highly publicized situation surrounding Sanders, the quarterback remains confident. He made it clear on his social media that he believes everything is part of a divine plan, posting a message on his X account as he gets ready for Day 3 of the NFL Draft.

Shedeur Sanders Is Ready for Another Opportunity on Day 3 of NFL Draft
Something unexpected happened in the 2025 NFL Draft: Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders, once seen as one of the top talents in the class, was not selected during the first two days of the event. He had to watch as five other quarterbacks — in a class that wasn’t particularly deep or loaded with elite prospects — heard their names called before his.
Now, an idea that once seemed unimaginable is starting to creep into fans’ minds: Could Sanders actually go undrafted? Most of the teams that needed a quarterback have already addressed the position, and even if a team were to select Sanders now, what would his status be upon arrival?
Despite everything, the quarterback appeared on social media shortly after the end of the third round, saying he is in God’s hands and remains confident. On Saturday morning, he posted a message on his X account showing that he’s focused and ready for the upcoming rounds.
Another day another opportunity to get a chance to play the game I love. Thank you GOD #LEGENDARY

“Another day another opportunity to get a chance to play the game I love. Thank you GOD #LEGENDARY,” he wrote.
Sanders was consistently viewed as the second-best quarterback prospect in this draft class, with the only real competition coming from Jaxson Dart, the Ole Miss quarterback. Dart ended up being selected at No. 25 overall, with the New York Giants trading up to secure him.
After that, most expected Sanders to be picked early in the second round. But reality took a different turn. Tyler Shough was the next quarterback off the board, going to the New Orleans Saints, followed by two surprising picks that no one saw coming: Jalen Milroe to the Seattle Seahawks and Dillon Gabriel to the Cleveland Browns.
Now, heading into Day 3, some teams may view the risk of drafting Sanders as much lower, seeing him as a developmental option for the future. The Pittsburgh Steelers still don’t have a clear answer at quarterback for the upcoming season and are waiting on Aaron Rodgers’ decision — bringing in Sanders could at least give them another option.
Two other teams that could emerge as potential fits are the Los Angeles Rams, who need to start planning for life after Matthew Stafford, and the Las Vegas Raiders, who have Geno Smith under contract for the next two seasons.
Wherever Sanders ends up, he will no longer be seen as a future star set to command a locker room, but rather as a Day 3 quarterback prospect, just like everyone else still looking for a chance to prove himself in the NFL.
