Shedeur Sanders Breaks Silence On 2 Speeding Citations, Takes Accountability For His ‘Wrong Choices’

Cleveland Browns QB Shedeur Sanders acknowledged he had made mistakes as the QB was ticketed twice for speeding in June.

Shedeur Sanders finally looked to be settling in with the Cleveland Browns, and following some impressive performances in the OTAs and the minicamp, the Colorado alum was trending towards becoming a starting quarterback in a crowded room. However, things went sideways for Sanders, as they have often gone, after reports of him being cited twice have emerged.

While court records show that Sanders will just need to pay $249 in fines to settle the ticket, the quarterback has released an apology video and admitted his actions were wrong.

Shedeur Sanders Accepts He Made Wrong Choices After Speeding Citations

Thanks to his last name and the attention that comes with being the son of NFL legend Deion Sanders, the Colorado Buffaloes product has always been under the microscope. Before the draft, many critics said his confidence was actually a red flag.

So much so that his fall from a potential first-round pick to No. 144 overall was mostly blamed on his attitude, especially in closed-door interviews. Just as it looked like he was starting to move past that, the speeding citations have got all the critics going at Sanders yet again.

But Sanders showed maturity this time and owned up to his mistakes. “I’ve made some wrong choices, I can own up to it. I learn from them,” he said.

The news came after a Cleveland news station reported the citation. “According to Strongsville police records, an officer stopped Sanders on 71 North around 12:24 a.m. on June 17. A report states Sanders was driving 101 mph, 41 miles over the posted speed limit.”

It was the second time Sanders was cited in June. The Ohio State Patrol earlier stopped him on June 5 in Brunswick Hills, Ohio, where he was caught going over 91 mph in a 65 mph zone, the Patrol told WKBN-TV.

While Sanders certainly isn’t the first NFL player to get cited for speeding, the unmatched spotlight on him as a rookie and pre-draft issues surrounding him have made it a big deal. Some people are concerned that if these situations become a pattern, the QB could be up for a tough time in Cleveland, let alone having a chance to start for the Browns.

Regardless, Sanders appears to have realised it’s not a minor thing, more so if he enjoys such a spotlight. He’s currently in a tight battle to earn the starting quarterback job for the Browns. With a veteran and former Super Bowl champion like Joe Flacco in the room, Sanders can’t afford any slipups.
