The San Francisco 49ers took down the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, and star wide receiver A.J. Brown is now facing criticism from all over. NFL Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe is one person who was not impressed with Brown’s performance Sunday.
The star receiver dropped multiple passes and skipped the postgame press conference, and Sharpe ripped the receiver on Monday for his behavior.
A.J. Brown Struggles vs 49ers Shannon Sharpe Blasts Him for Drops and Media Snubs
Against the 49ers, Brown was targeted seven times and turned those into just three catches for 25 yards. The star wideout had a couple of crucial drops, including one on the team’s final possession.
On the “Nightcap” show, which Sharpe hosts with fellow former NFLer Chad Johnson, Sharpe blasted Brown for failing to show up for his team. Sharpe mentioned that Brown had no problem talking to the media earlier this season when he was complaining about his lack of targets.
“That’s why I say you keep your mouth shut,” said Sharpe. “Because this game has a way of humbling you. You begged for the ball. I was like ‘Are you going to catch anything tonight?'”
Sharpe explained that he doesn’t even disagree with Brown wanting the ball more, but you have to “keep that behind closed doors.” The Hall of Famer also stated that it has reached the point where people will think Brown only cares about his stats and not winning.
“People are going to look at you and say that you don’t really care about winning, you care about your stats,” explained Sharpe. “And you don’t ever want people to think that.”

Brown ends the 2025 season with his fewest yards since 2021. With the receiver being vocal about his frustrations in the past, yelling at his head coach during a game, and underperforming, it’s fair to wonder if Brown will be playing elsewhere next season. The Eagles won the Super Bowl last season, and some were beginning to wonder if they were preparing to become the next NFL dynasty.
The team went 11-6 in the regular season and earned the right to host a playoff game, so expectations were high. However, the Eagles managed just over 300 total yards of offense and scored only 19 points.
The 49ers didn’t play a perfect game, but they made enough plays to escape with a victory. Now, the Eagles’ season ends prematurely, and there’s plenty of blame to go around. Will the Eagles make some fixes this offseason and compete next season?
